AuntyDan vs. Karen Corr : 3-3

Every year around this time I go down to the Viejas Casino for the WPBA San Diego classic. For the past 3 years I've played 2 games against Karen Corr in the Pro-Am charity event they have the night before the tournament itself.

In the first year the score was 1-1, mostly due to a lucky 1-ball shot that enabled me to run out the second rack. The second year I was wiped out 2-0, made all the more shameful by Jennifer Beretta looking on from the sidelines.

This year I had to win both games to even the score, and I am glad to report I was able to do this. In the first rack I broke well, making the wing ball and leaving an open shot on the 1 to setup a 2-9 combo in the corner pocket. In the second rack I managed to scratch on the break (D'oh!) but Ms. Corr must have been feeling charitable as with ball in hand she failed to run the rack, missing 2 balls she definitely should not have missed and leaving me to run 5 balls and out for the rack.

.

Dan-man,
How cool is pool?????

A few years ago I attended the PGA championship golf tournament. I cannot recall being given the opportunity to play a few holes with Tiger Woods. One of the beauties of "fringe" sports like pool is the opportunity for competition with the greats, and lessons from the greats - AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE.

Such opportunities bring us much closer to the essence of the game we love.

P.S. - Also, unless you are a complete LOSER TROLL (like breakup), such opportunities are widely available. We will hopefully have at least 2 celebrity "match-ups" available for 4 lucky AZB'ers at the 2007 DCC (this year's participants were Efren Reyes and Jeanette Lee - one poster has requested that we get some players next year who are "more famous" - on what planet shall I look???).

Sounds like you had a good time, she will probably be scared next to play you. :D

PM me if you still want to meet up to get that book.

Jack,
A Justis case is the same as 2 games on the wire for the proud owner. JMO.

P.S. - You should get one!!

Dan,

Congratulation. :)

Nice case, and I like the touch of the flag. Did Karen ask you about your case? I am sure you get a lot of attention and compliment wherever you go.

Well done. Next year you're expected to take the lead in this series. Your fellow forum members would accept nothing less.

LOL! And let me guess, that poster never suggested who their "more famous" replacements should be did they?

Thanks everyone

WillieBetMore - Yes it's one of the few benefits of Pool having such a low profile. Maybe if the IPT makes millionaires out of all the Pros such luxuries may be harder to come by!

Mack - Thanks, I don't think I really scared her as much as shocked her with my luck! (I'll call you about the book, I've been super busy)

Jack - Your custom cases can have strong influence over the weak minded. Unfortunately Ms. Corr is not weak minded!

Richard - Thanks, the case is indeed beautiful. It was actually kind of embarrassing that I had a nicer case than most of the Pros in the room! It was also interesting that many of the women carry plain soft nylon cases as the large tube cases are just too heavy for them. Allison Fisher, for example, told me she did not have her black Justis with her for that reason. (I guess it is also easier for her to sew or stick patches with the logos of her sponsors to such a case.) I tried to tell her about the new ProLite interiors but I don't think she quite understood. Perhaps Mr. Justis needs to contact her and educate her properly!

SJM - Ahh, but there's the rub, to take the lead I have to win 2-0 again next year, which may be a tall order!

I suppose

you will be selling your Accu-stats DVD in the for sale section for $50 now .... lol

Yes, I noticed that too, most girls are carrying softer cases. But when a girl on WPBA is carrying a hard case, it is usually a Jack Justis.

I think Jack's new light weight case will gain more popularity among the girls very soon, a lot of them simply may not know about it.

There are so many beautiful Jack Justis cases floating around in the Derby and in VF, I think the men pro players are really proud of their cases and are not afriad to show them off.
