Austin Texas Once A Month

I have been informed by my boss starting in August I will be in Austin one week out of the month!

So needless to say I would like to know good places to play, and would like to know people that would like to play or hang out.

I consider myself to be a strong D player vastly improving and hopefully achieving C status before the end of the year, but I wanted to throw that out there so that you all aren't expecting more than what I am! LOL

If anyone wants to hook up to play, or wants to let me know of good places to play then that would be great.

I always have a blast in Austin.....6th street rocks, and it's always fun to hang out with the college kids....see if I can catch a female whom is looking for a father figure :D

Not too sure about pool, but I'd do a search for Austin, seem to remember this topic coming up recently with some good input....

Moving to Dallas in a couple of months, so if you end up in the Lewisville area in the future, shoot me a PM and stop by, sounds like I'm about your speed...

What part of Austin will you be in? If you like 9' tables, the best in the area are at G-Cue up in Round Rock. There's a Fast Eddies that's pretty nice (also N. Austin). I think the newest place is Jeckle and Hydes with brand new tables. There's a couple of Clicks, Rack Daddy's, and Slick Willies around town. Eric's used to be the 'players' pool hall but I'm not sure that's true any more.
 
When I was last there (which was several years ago), the action seemed to be at Erics, and at the Click's closer to downtown. I think it was on Oltoff St or Oltorf St or something like that.
 
erics isn't what it once was but most places aren't what they once were with pool declining in popularity to poker and all. Clicks on oltorf (south) still gets a little action. G cue is nice too. Jekyl and hyde's is nice and new but the red cloth hurts the eyes after a few minutes. I personally go to Clicks on oltorf because they have a $4 flat rate 7 days a week from 11am to 6pm. 8 foot tables mostly but I go there regularly enough that they give me a 9 ft. You can't beat 6-7 hours for 4 bucks flat... any day of the week.
 
If you ever get the chance, drive down to San Marcos (not far away) and check out Dillingers. Hot girls and hot action is what I've heard. Poolroom on one floor and dancing and bar on the other.

Ask for Redbird (the owner), an old buddy of mine. Tell him I sent you. He'll either buy you a drink or kick you out. :)

Well thanks guys.

I sometimes have to stay at Schertz too, so San Marcos wouldn't be that bad of a drive and hang out if I wanted to check that place out Jay.

I Have been to the Fast Eddie's in Round Rock, and a buddy of mine lives in Round Rock. The other one lives in Bastrop.

I am not sure where our new office is in Austin, but I am sure I will figure it out soon enough.

I will let you all know what places I try out.

Hey Scott,

You're gonna love spending some time in Austin - good pool and lots of places.

I didn't know you were a strong D player. Wanna play some? ;)

jeckel and hydes has nice 9 ft tables and quite a few players around your range (me included) and players that are better too.

Is that the same Red that owns or used to own the Texaco full service station in San Marcos?

Sure I will play anyone no matter what speed they are! Isn't that how you learn and get better? LOL

Yea, I am only a lonely D player. Hopefully one day I will be better.

I saw the way you ladies play, and I could learn a lot from you all!

No, this is the guy they call Redbird. He owns Dillingers and plays a little pool too.

when i was there, i think the name was different, just can't recall off the top of my head. top katz, top hats, that is the only thing coming to mind and may be totally out there......

the room at Airport Blvd. use to be called Eric's is now called The Grand. Was in there last week and propositioned by a road player from Houston :rolleyes: Theres still action there but its small time sets i.e race to 5 for 20-50
