Ventilation?

Cue Crazy said:Well I have a charcoal mask, and I have a small utility type room I spray in that has 2 doors inline with each other so it ventilates somewhat, still not perfect I suppose, but I have sprayed the Lacquer in there, and the fumes clear out fairly easily if I run some air through the doors. I also get out of the room soon after making a series of cotes. I guess the quicker it flashes the quicker I can get done and get out. I could lay it on pretty good with the lacquer, and not run into trouble, but until I try the new stuff I won't know what routine I will use, if i can use the same methods or not. I will definatly have to work it out to limit My time in there, each time I spray.
dam housing market still has me stuck here right now, but when I get into the new place I will be setting up a room dedicated to spraying, and a dirty room for turning seperate from the repair and build room. I'm definatly tired of getting sick.![]()
Michael Webb said:Not good, Auto finish can give you serious problems, how about some sought of exhaust and run it into a drum of water 1/2 fill, anything would help. We work with enough things that are toxic, why add to it if you can help it. If your not ready for a proper set up see if the local auto body shop can help and blow the finish on for you, (Headaches, Paralysis, DEATH) Do you work at home? (Family)
Tony Zinzola said:I have similar issues Cue Crazy. I don't have room until I sell this house to have a dedicated room for spraying. I'm somewhat fortunate in that my basement walks out to the back yard and I am still under the 3 season porch and there is a deck in front of that, so I am basically still inside but plenty of air moving through. I have to to through 2 doors in my basement to get outside. I do all my spraying there (I even mix the finish out there. Just opening the cans in the basement will be enough that I can smell it upstairs in the house). I can spray a coat, come back in through the 2 doors, take off my mask and not smell a thing. That said, I will not spray any finish if my wife and baby are at home and I also make sure to put the dog outside.
I'm still trying to come up with a solution as it gets colder here, but you don't have that problem. I'm thinking of building some sort of heated box, but who knows if I"ll ever get to it. I bought everything I need to build a booth to spin the cues and all the parts are still sitting in the unopened boxes just as UPS delivered them. I really only have one cue at a time ready for finish, so I just hang it up and spray away.
i used to buy it on ebaydave sutton said:cant find it locally. looking dupont chromoclear. what number are you guys spraying and where to but online? i asked everywhere and cant find a local source
