Avatars, anyone else feel some are in poor taste?

That avatar was posted by a little girl that seeks attention. Maybe she was hugged to much when she was a child?

there are plenty of avatars in poor taste on this board but i think its kinda funny that no one pointed it out until they saw one that depicted a white male kissing a black male. no one ever had anything to say about pictures of girls with their boobs popping out of their shirts or sucking on bananas or any other suggestive and perverted material. i don't think its fair to single out something like that claiming "poor taste" just because you're a bit of a homophobe. i also feel at this point that i should point out that i am not gay... "not that theres anything wrong with that"

I guess I am old school and I would prefer not to have it in my face when I wish to read a post but this is 2007 and everyone has the right to their views and preferences just as long as it is not ridiculing a persons life choices ! :cool: when that is the case it would be in poor taste! I happily haven't seen the avater in question and won't be searching for it! ;)

I am a strong proponent of freedom of expression in all of its forms. Not to mention, you start getting into some dangerous areas if you say homosexually suggestive material is not all right, but heterosexually suggestive material is all right. So that leaves the Admins in the wonderful position of either getting rid of all suggestive material or allowing all of it (assuming it is not obscene).

I for one will miss all of the wonderful ladies that greet me at the beginning of many posts on this forum, but I defer to people that have been here longer and the Admins. And for those of you that have issue with a picture of men kissing: Does the image make you uncomfortable or is it homosexuality as a whole? Because I hate to be the one to tell you this, I am pretty sure they are not heading back in the closet, so you may want to come to terms with it.

Yes, I am the one that Sweet Marissa chose to make trouble with this time around and for that I am sorry.

I feel that if it wasn't me, it would have been someone else as she seems to pop up every now and again in an attempt to be banned.

She was banned last time she used the avatar of the two guys, I assume that is why she chose to use it again, but it is a little sad that something fun was turned into something like this.

I have NEVER been told/PM'ed by anyone complaining about my avatars until Sweets decided to use me as her latest campaign.

I assume I will be changing my avatar rotation to something less eye appealing soon as this will cause the forum owner to disallow certain avatars. I guess in a way, she got what she wanted, which is a shame.

I was about to ask about your sexuality but you answered it already. for my part, I don't discriminate gay people. I knew some gay people who post their personal avatar depicting a gayish posture. but that's ok. since there is nothing wrong with it. but the kissing avatar is a bit too much or disturbing not to catch some negative attention. when it comes to pics, there are levels of comprehension. I do believe people here are not bias with regards to other's avatars. a set of hooters with some shirt is entirely different from a fully exposed mammary glands. Have you seen such avatar here of a fully exposed boobies? If you saw such avatar which is not dealt with and didn't have a negative impact, then you can say that people here are biased. ;)

What she's wearing is irrelevant, but she is posing in a sexually suggestive position. Yes, she's beautiful, but like someone else said, if you are on the PC and scrolling thru posts on a billiards forum, and then suddenly your child, or your boss passes by, it would be a VERY uncomfortable situation. That is my whole point. Now, a woman in a bikini OR a man in speedos, that is most definately is work safe, because you see women in bikinis and buff men with speedos or shorts on billboards, in TV ads or shows, calendars, etc. Women in bikinis that are posing in a position like they are about to take it in the you-know-what, that's a little different. There is a very fine line when it comes to that.

Now, about Marissa's avatar- She said that her avatar is in 'response' to other avatars on here, so I assume that she doesn't find two guys doing homosexual acts appealing. She knows that it bothers MANY other posters here, and that it's not worksafe, and it could cause an extremely uncomfortable situation if an AZ-reader happens to scroll down and see her avatar, when relatives or co-workers who happen to pass by see it, and wouldn't realize that you are reading a billiard forum....they might think you are looking at gay porn pics. That could cause some problems. This brings me to the conclusion that Marissa's sole-purpose of using that avatar is to CAUSE TROUBLE. And she needs to take it down.

Marissa, you need to take your problems up with Jennifer Barretta. She's here on this forum, go gawk at her for a while and stop trying to cause here.

It's actually a different avatar than before. The first one was a black and white photo of two white men in an embrace whilst kissing.

You make an interesting point, I still think she should be able to post anything that is not obscene, but you made a solid distinction between the two.

Two men kissing doesn't bother me at all. I have plenty of gay and bisexual friends and see it all the time.

As for dropping Jenn's name, I have nothing against her and think she's a swell person so don't try to throw us against one another.

Many people know I date women, because I do it openly and am not ashamed of it. If I someone happened to see my computer screen, they might ask why I have pictures of women's breasts on it or females in sexually suggestive positions.

Did you read my earlier post on the end of page 2?

My second statement, which you quoted, regarding the distinction between hetero and homo was more an acknowledgment of the absurd double standard in our society... and while you and I do not like that double standard, that does not keep it from existing.
