Here is a drill I just had an old pro player show me. I think its one of the most helpful drills I have ever worked on. Thought some of you may like to try it out.I think even really good players may take a few tries to do it. Its awesome position play I think. Check it out and let me know what you think.:D

I can't see the picture
It's easy enough to describe. Freeze the nine in the middle of one end rail and the eight in the middle of the other. Put the 7 one diamond out from the nine and the 5 on the spot at that end of the table. Put the 6 one diamond out from the 8. All five object balls are on the centerline of the table, which is technically called the "long string."

This is the layout

i never tried this drill, but it looks like a basic 1rail draw-outside english right speed exercise. im not yet training speed/positional plays, but ill save it for the next year.

ps im curious to see whats the % succes rate of this drill to tun out?

id say for me this is a 20-40% succes rate.

This is an excellent drill for developing accurate speed control. Thanks for sharing!

In 9-ball practice, I used to often put the even-numbered balls at one end and the odds at the other....really makes you move old whitey back and forth.

Thanks for sharing...If sjm likes it, I like it,

success rate for me is not much - the guy that showed me did it 5 times in a row and did it pretty much different each time. He said if someone masters that drill your game would really go up the % scale. Its never easy to move whitey around that much and to get good shape for that kind of movement on 5 shots it pretty tuff. If I saw someone run that drill - I wouldnt play em even.

I'm going to shoot my 9ball drills using nine 9balls. You get to practice the money ball on every shot. Here's a few examples. Except every ball is a 9ball.

So there is no order? Or do you just keep track of which one is next.
I understand the thought you are doing by playing with all 9 balls but have you noticed anything different when switching back to 1-9 numbers balls.
For me its the 8 and 6 balls that get a little tougher to see a times. More so on a table with less light.
