Well It's really no suprise but we have a lot of flakes here on AZ that call you up wanna buy your cue promise the world and then no money. Their dog died, they didn't make it to the post office, their Paypal isn't working and my personal favorite is the wife found out and put the kabosh to the deal. All this stuff is a bunch of Crap IMO. You ethier have the money or you don't and if your wife is dictating what you can and cannot due you need to grow a set. I'm going to prove that I'm as nuts as the rest of you. Tim Scruggs high end cue going $1 "No Reserve" and I'm not going to pull it. Go big or go home!

I can appreciate your frustration, but in defense of the majority of the members here... "Flakes" are everywhere and really come out of the wood work online. All forums, chat rooms, ebay, and any other place that provides human interaction has a ton of "Flakes". It's in no way limited to AZ. ;)

Talk to Talk . Walk to Walk. Too bad that we all have to deal with all these "Flakes". World is not perfectly round. Nice cue should sell fast "No Reserve" WOW......."Going,Going,GONE................ "
Good luck with your sale.

Sorry

I'm sorry for my rant before but I have had 3 "Buyers" Fail to keep their end of the deal on this particular cue.Two of them AZers. I didn't mean that all of you are bad in fact for the most part all my transactions here have been very smooth. so based on my buying and selling I would say about 85% go off without a hitch.

In my industry we call them tire kickers. Please people don't tire kick anyone. If you are going to inquire about a cue be serious and don't commit to something if you don't have check or paypal ready to go. I feel your pain buddy, I can't stand flakes.

That's Life...

As Sinatra noted...That's Life...it has happened to me and I have done it a few times myself. I don't think people are flakes as much as fickle...one day its one cue the next day its another cue; desires change. Cues are even a harder sell because they are a collectible/ novelty item that most people don't need, they want...and there is more than one cue that people desire so they will kick around until they find the best deal on whatever cue in their circle of cues they are looking for. I had a tough time recently as I only had a certain budget and there were 4 cues I was looking at, had to settle on just one as I am not independently wealthy. The last time I was trying to sell my Gilbert I had two people back out of deals and about 20 lowball offers and that's life in the pool cue game; I understand that because "real life" happens to everyone.

I'm not really po"ed at tire kickers or low ballers. I'm definately not above trying to steal a cue or two myself. The problem only arises when a person says the funds are on their way and in the mean time you turn down other deals because you told Mr. X that it was his cue. They in the meantime don't come up with the money or whatever and your real buyer that you told the cue was sold to buys a different cue.

To me I guess it just goes to charcter and you should always do whatever you say your going to. It's called your word . It used to be worth something. To me if I'm going to take my time to inquire and even make a offer I make sure that I have the funds to Complete the deal if the seller accepts my terms. I really don't want to waste my time or theirs.

I realize that money gets tight at times for everyone including myself. I recently found myself scrambling because a cue maker called and said my cue was ready and it had been so long since I ordered it I had totally forgotten about it.

Anyway I guess my point is that it's not about the Money it's about your word.

!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flakes yes but many days you have over 1000 people logged in with similar interests. That compounded with a no selling fee makes AZB a pretty juicey place to be. I have been burned by the will buy no buyers.
Selling is only a small part of AZB so repost an try again there are many
buyers an sellers. When someone is dishonest they are found out so buy an sell with confidence. AZB for me no to Fleabay!!!!!!!!!

That is one sweet cue!

I am remodeling my kitchen and getting ready to suprise my wife with a new floor, fridge and oven or it would be coming this way. Seems a few deals have been screwy for me too here lately but somehow the same solid bunch of regulars here never disapoint. As for the others well I feel ya!
Happy holidays:)

For quite a while, AZB had, and still has, it's regular posters. We got to know each other over the years, and so it was easy to know who you were dealing with.

Now that the 'rest of the world' has figured out all the 'goodies' that AZB can potentially have to offer, we are seeing an influx of new members. Some only lurk to buy, some post minimally. I had a very positive experience with one of these newer members, but this may not always be the case.

I can, however, understand your frustration, as it is really not too much different than a deadbeat bidder on the 'bay...sans the wasted listing fees.

I am sure you will find a suitable buyer for your cue...as you usually have some pretty nifty cues offered here. I wish you all the best, and hope you continue with your perseverance.:D

My dog ate my wallet.
Of course we get those scammers here too.
If they low post count, beware.

Like someone told me once, "Just a simple no sale. Right?"

Hal, whoever said that probably didn't have much experience in selling at the time :D

It is incredibly frustrating when people will not keep their words. Unless I know the person, I will not hold a cue for a promise of payment.

Even if you know the person, you should always sell to the for sure money. There is nothing more frustrating to have someone else offer to buy the cue cash, and you turn him down because you are holding it for a buddy. Then they welch out on you. Has happened many times to me and probably will happen again. But From now on unless it is my best of friends I go where the money is. If they get offended that I sold their cue than I'll have to live with that. I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it either.

I'm just the opposite, I build custom cues and very seldom ever ask for a deposit unless it is some sort of real oddball cue that would be hard to sell to another. Over the years I've only been stiffed around 8 or 10 times. It doesn't bother me a bit if someone who has ordered a cue sees it and is either disappointed or doesn't like how it feels or plays and would turn it down but when it is completed and they just don't show up to get it upsets me. I have a cue here in my shop that a fellow came in in the middle of Nov. and wanted me to hold it for him until Dec. as that was when he was paid again. I've turned down two sales for it and he has not come back.

As far as I'm concerned, "A man is only as good as his word".

I've dealt with one flake on AZ thus far. The same guy flaked out on my friend's cue the same week.

i have had one person on az like that myself... worst part is that he kept low balling me.. and i kept comming down on the price.. and he kept lowballing me for over a week..., till we made an agreement.. somewhere in the middle.. and then they said they ddint have the cash right now but they expect it next week. so i waited till next week.. and behold.. they still didnt have it.. so i sold it to somebody on ebay for more then i was willing to sell it..

i may inquire about a cue.. but i deffinatly would not haggle over a price or even make a an offer if i wasnt ready to commit.. i dont know why some people do it.. THEY KNOW IF THEY HAVE THE MONEY OR NOT! i dont know why they play that game... if i make an offer or agree to a deal...i will deffinatly follow through.. as everybody esle who does should also..

We are dealing with cue fanatics. What do you expect ? Someone that already owns 27 cues sees a cue they gotta have today :D :D :D and then tomorrow they sell it   for another cue thats the nuts :D :D :D which they end up trading for the cue they sold yesterday because they miss it so much
