AZ Main Page Issues

Is it just me or has the main page become a political bulletin board for various pool organizations to argue? IMO, the main page should be a place that offers headlines of pool tournaments and players, not the latest argument/counter argument about the state of affairs of the game. I suggest a new link at the top of the page for Pool Organizations/News and leaving the main page to Efren beats Archer 9-5 in event X. Anyone agree with me or am I totally off base?

I've now bookmarked right to the forums pages, bypassing the front page arguments for the juicy behind-the-scenes bickering!

The new article there on the main page does have a distinct slant to it. But it was interesting to know what happening around the world of pool, even with the bias.

Front Page

The front page is for news relating to the billiard industry. When major forces send AZB press releases concerning the politics that affect the way pro players may earn a living it is imperative that this news reach the players. It also serves to educate all readers as to the details of what is involved in international billiards. It shows quite graphically how difficult it truly is to organize and conduct a major tournament. There are a lot of parties that must be contacted and co-operated with in order to avoid conflicts.

somewhat valid but . . .

I do see the value of what you are saying but these posts are pool related. I much prefer to see them than the totally NPR on the front page. When I refer to NPR I do exclude big events in the life of regular posters. They may not be pool related but they are forum related.

Apparently after Mr. Wilson's warning about giving warnings the outcry in favor of NPR threads on the main forum won out so be grateful for semi-pool related posts, it seems completely NPR will be more and more common on the main forum.

i'd say a little off base. this is like making a thread about how much you hate OB-1 vs. predator threads, by making yet another one.. i mean, the time spent writing this thread would/should reflect the time it takes you to click past the front page at least 55 times..

i for one like to read that stuff and constantly search for more of it.

My point is that if you're going to offer points/counter points to every political issue in the pool world, then that will dominate the main page. And I am interested in that stuff too, but I want the "old main page" back where it almost exclusively reported on tournament or "action" happenings. In the last week there has been the BCA/UPA feud, this Filipino feud, and very little about actual pool playing or competitions. I'm not losing sleep over it, I just prefer the main page to focus on pool and not pool politics. At this rate, next week the page feature a letter from the Joss Tour arguing about the Blaze Tour stealing one of its host rooms, and a detailed rebuttal from the Joss Tour claiming the Predator Tour is stealing its players....yada, yada, yada (the Joss/Blaze thing is a fictional example)

It seems there is a lot to talk about these days. When the issues are at the forefront then they should get the coverage, imo. Personally I feel that these discussions and confrontations are an essential part in working towards a better professional pool environment. We are fortunate to be able to participate here at AZ Billiards with the opportunity to discuss these issues with many of the movers and shakers in the industry. I doubt there are many other sports/games where a nobody like most of us can discuss the issues of the day with folks like Jay, Jerry, JohnB, Grady, etc. etc. etc.

Valid points. Thanks for the feedback. I may be officially changing my stance.

AZ covers billiard news - the various organizations having difficulties is news. i think you will agree when there are events happening, the coverage is there as well.
