Cuewhiz, I lived in So.Cal. most of my life and played at Hard Times in Bellflower. I've already posted what I've done in the past but the past was a long time ago, for me. A whole different life as a matter of fact. But I'll put up some of the names of the guys I've beat that you may have heard of. Morro, Ernesto, Rosas, Hemmah, Parica, Souquet, Hall, Keith, and probably a lot more that I can't think of right now. I also ran 5 racks on Varner after he ran 6 on me from the coin flip, but I didn't make a ball the next break and he ran the set out on me. So, I had 1 inning and lost 9-5. I hope this helps. No hard feelings, peace to you and get well. I too am in bad health so I can empathize with you.

Good day Cuteone, if you had been following this thread from the begining, you might know what you are talking about.
First, the players were chosen by the votes. You donate, you vote. This made everyone on this forum a candidate. No matter where they were from.

Second, you show me how to pay for more than two players to go with the donations. We got $820 so far plus I donated a $530 brand new custom cue and Leonard Bludworth donated a $350 cue to help support this idea. The hotel is costing $720 for 8 nights. The air fare is running about $550. Thats for two players. That is about $1,270 out of the $1,300 we have. So please explain how we can send more. I would really like to now.

Third, mediocure players? Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. These two have been endorsed by Keith McCready and Melissa Herndon. Two touring pros. Keith and Buddy Hall, (thats hall of fame Buddy Hall) have lost to one or both of them.

Fourth, I haven't received your donation yet. Thats the only way you have any say in this. The members have voted. You want to vote, send your check with your vote.

Fifth, every dime is going to the players. All the cue money and donations will be accounted for. We are doing this to help support the sport we love, a couple deserving AZ players, Pool in general, the US Open tournament, and AZ Billiards forum.
Now, before you post your concerns, find out exactly what you are talking about. Before you call someone a mediocre player, do some research. And keep your negativity to yourself.
Handsomeone, I am just a guy.

Gremlin Here,

Hey, I sent Don a donation! I get critized all the time by my pool friends becaues I come to AZBilliards forum. There take when reading some of the posts put here is they are posted by a "bunch of pot bellied old retirees" who don't know what they are talking about. I have to say in a lot of cases
they are right.

I put up my own website because of the dumb a$$es in this forum who have 10 windows of AZB open all the time, with there red eyes burning, in their smoked filled rooms. I never heard of JimmyM or Rudedog either and I never said anything about the players both being from no where but I still support Don's idea. This forum is open as far as I know to all even cuteone.

As for lasttwo he is one of those "old pot bellied retirees". He is just jealous of you Justin cause he can't get it up anymore. :p Stop by my website if you would like to read in peace and quiet. I have no forum because I don't need to listen to people who don't know what they are talking about.

My site: http://hometown.aol.com/hbee007/gpfp01index.html

Thanks, Don for your great idea even if we are sending some chumps I am behind them 100%.

Cheers,

Gremlin

Grem, chumps with no chance have won before, ever heard the story of David and Goliath, if you were there, what kind of odds would you have wanted to bet on the runt? I would not have put up a brass farthing if you gave me 1000 to one. Just the opinion from one irishman to another. Ah what does some potato digger know, down the hatch me boy, bottoms up, pass me another, cheers, tally ho.

Rama O' Barley tee hee hee... :D   :p

Damn Shame

I wish every one of you would go back and read Don's original post that started this thread.

It is a damn shame that the thread degenerated to the point it did. I am beginning to understand why there is no more support than there is for this project.

It is just too damn bad because it is a geat idea - help select one or two people to participate in the Open and raise the money to get them there. It is not like we are trying to get Johnny, Earl, or Efren there. Hell, they don't need our help to get there they have sponsors for that. This was supposed to help, from what I understand, a couple a everyday joes (or jills) that, while not of the speed of the afore mentioned, can still make a repectable showing and we (those who help get them there) can take pride and maybe boast a bit in our local hall - hey, you know so-an-so that finished 8th at the open, I put up some bucks to get him/her there. Kinda like we all are mini stakehorses that don't get a return other than pride for our effort.

Yep, this tread became a damn shame. :(

Well said Pelican! I totally agree, I am not expecting either of these guys to win the tournament. I do believe that with a decent draw and couple of decent rolls either one of these two can finish in the top 12 and that is good enough for me. The whole point of this thing was to send a someone who was not planning to go, but was good enough to compete. I think we chose very well and I know our guys will have a great time out there.

Pel, Don't let this thread frustrate you. We took a great idea and turned it into a trip for 2 players. I don't care about the arguments and I don't care if these guys get there and can't make 2 balls in a row. All I care about is they show up and give their best effort. I know in my heart that these guys will hit balls til they can't see straight to prepare for this trip. Are you preparing for Vegas? Coming up soon ain't it? Best of luck to all. Sam

Yo sat, I made two balls in a row, let's see that was 19........... :D

We fly out of New Orleans on Aug 21 and return the 28th. Just hope I don't have to hire a GV-1 (C-130) to haul my wife's luggage

I sure hope we can get them there with enough money that they can not only make the trip, shoot the match, and have place to stay- but also maybe put a dab in their pocket so they can enjoy themselves some. Would be cool if we could have polo shirts made with GOOD LUCK on the back at the top and then list the 'handle' of all the supporters underneath. Hell, I'll throw a fifty at it if we can get it done. Who do we need to get it going, Mike? Maybe start a separate fund for it. Shouldn't be that much. Get the wives/girlfriends (but not both :D ) one too.

So what else is new? Any time any body does anything of merit, there is somebody on these boards throwing mud on it. I guess all you can do is ignore the mud throwers because they are not going away. They are losers in life that can't stand seeing winners in action actually winning. This is a wonderful thing you all are doing here and God shall bless you all for it. Charity is a blessed thing.
My Best Wishes,

Rama...

Yes, never wrestle with a pig. You will get dirty and the pig will like it.

Good luck to the guys we are sending.

Tap, tap, tap.

I couldn't agree more. They will do well or they won't. Either way it'll be a damn sight better than if they weren't there and they won't embarrass themselves or there supporters no matter what.
