For "the way it was" tales, there are several..

Shooting tips, there are many...

Then we'd need a "crybaby" award...

Ah hell, I give up. Too complicated...too much thinking involved.

Popularity is a bad criteria for rating the value of a poster....IMO

Let's use CJ vs PJ as an example. There would be passionate advocates of both. In my opinion the conversations were more informative when PJ could break down CJ's posts. Who would win in a vote? CJ I am sure since he seems to have more followers. But PJ helped CJ get to the popularity he enjoys today. And to be honest....I rarely read threads with CJ involved anymore. I went too long without seeing anything new and informative from what was posted last week. CJ is left unchallenged. We just get his soliloquy nowadays.

In summary....

I love the contrast of opinions here. I only wish the forum had the ability to self moderate like http://slashdot.org/. It would make reading some of the more volatile threads a LOT easier!

Ken

It was fine until PJ jumped the shark.... Even CJ has said that the back and forth and questions made him step back several times and reevaluate his beliefs or the way he was trying to present his ideas....

Everyone needs someone to call them on their bullshit at times.. The key is that it doesn't have to be personal.....

I'm not sure who would get my vote if we had a poster of the year award... I'd vote for me .... Except I have been guilty of personal insults thrown at PJ, Neil, Lou, Duckie and a few others....

It's such a hard little life trying to practice what you preach.......

Nope, no one here like that. Just posers that like to throw money in peoples faces is all.

Dumb a ss thread anyway. Been done before. Peoples feelings can get hurt over it.

Truth is, everyone on AZ is the most valuable poster. People that teach, offer opinions, tell a joke, post a funny link, etc. I don't log in every day to read one members threads or posts. I log in to read what everyone has to say.

The only thing achieved by voting someone the Most Valuable Poster is to devaluate others efforts.

Guess what? I said hi to Johnny Depp once. I rub elbows with A Listers.

easy now man, i told that Depp story only because i mentioned it in thread and someone was interested in it, so being thoughtful i made a second post hoping the reader would enjoy it. That's it. That A list thing is a joke, those people all go to work in a industry that grabs peoples attention, and to be honest it dont do anything for me one bit. So I said what i did in a effort to be nice here(something this board needs more of).

also I didnt vote in the poll, It was a idea I had and posted it only cause i remembered to. My vote would be "No"; I put the idea out there as a idea to improve AZB, not further my own agenda-i dont have a agenda(except to play better). The no's win so the idea is dead, what harm is there in trying to add ideas to improve AZB(if i do have a agenda its to make AZB more pleasurable, less bickering )

So go easy and help make AZB a nice place, I could have went 180 degrees with your response and started a shit storm, but i wont indluge you. After all i'm just not smart enuff with words to do that and win, ;)

oh yes as you duely pointed out "peoples feelings can get hurt", so what about mine after those 10 knocks? that dont count F-fatboy and his feelings. nice.... Your better than that man, arnt you? i always thought so.

best
eric:)

Yes Eric, you're right and sorry if I hurt your feelings. I generally like your posts as well.

Sometimes I feel that you go a bit over board and if you'd step back and realize that people like you for who you are and not for what you have, then
maybe things would be a bit different.

I have always tried to like Eric P ( The Person) and not because maybe I could visit your mansion when I got to Vegas. Know what I mean?

I am a simple person, came from a simple back ground. Money, mansions, cars etc don't impress me much. People impress me.

Sorry for the reality check Bud. Just be Eric.

positive contribution

First, Eric I commend your suggestion. I enjoy your posts and those of many others. I feel I have learned quite a bit from many AZ members. However, i am bothered by the many mean spirited posts that serve no positive purpose. As example, many guys post cues in the gallery. Obviously they like them and wish to share them. All too frequently some jerk has to point out why it is not to his taste,,,what is the point? Why say anything? WE need more positives and I enjoy seeing and learning about the better things in pool.
Thanks for your suggestion,
BR,
Phil

Kindest regards

Nice car Phil. I bet it goes real fast.

I did a stupid thing. Years ago when all my biker Buds were driving hot rods, I had an Electra Glide. Now, when everyone got older, they ride the old man
Harleys and I got myself a Hot Rod and it goes much faster than any old man like me needs to go.

I do believe that I went and got things backwards on that one.

I keep forgetting that some nights, I ride much faster than my Guardian Angel can fly.

it's a really bad idea to turn posting into a contest in any way, shape or form

I believe it's an inappropriate idea to turn posting into a contest in any way, shape or form. One thing I've learned over the 7 months I've posted is the sensitivity level of people and to respect everyone individually.

Pj, Lou, and I used to joke around a lot and I'm sure some readers got the humor, however, some that were posting at the time didn't appreciate the humor - sometimes they even thought I was referring to them.

This was far from the truth, but I still had to be responsible for my communication and acknowledge that they were right in their own minds (and that's all that counts).

I'm still misunderstood occasionally, and that's to be expected when reaching out to tens of thousands of readers on Face Book, and the 79 people here on azbilliards. I've learned a lot during this experience, not about pool so much, but about human nature, empathy, patience, tolerance, and understanding.

The Game is the Teacher

ps....the 79 people comment about azbilliards was a joke btw... :groucho: ...I apologize in advance if it was inappropriate in any way, shape, or form.

Yikes!

My fervent wish is that nobody starts a Worst Poster thread!

Groveling is my life,
