Jimmy could get the 7 ball from Louie.

Of course, you're right, but they are equals as men who served their country, and Memorial Day is a nice time to celebrate the contributions of both to the shaping of America's dreams.

Of course.....but I gather from your original post that your buddy Jimmy is still alive so I think he might be upset to know that you are thinking of him on Memorial Day (dead soldiers). Wait til Veterans Day and then give Jimmy a call to thank him for serviing/protecting us Americans.

Actually, I saw Jimmy Burke about three months ago at the Amsterdam Billiard Club. As JAM noted in the post that begin this thread, this day was usually known as Decoration Day, a day on which military alumni marched in the streets while wearing their decorations (medals), and not just a day on which to reflect on those no longer with us.

In about 1994, I remember showing the program from the 1980 World Open 14.1 Championships to Jimmy. He begged me to let him keep it, but I didn't really want to and asked him why he was so keen on having it. "Because it has a picture of me with (a full head of) hair in it," he replied. I coudln't help myself, and gave him the program.

Walter Tevis was inducted into the BCA Hall Of Fame for his service to the industry. And as for a "Billards Day" song to sing as we march with our cues on our shoulder there's only one choice for me - "Dirty Pool" by Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Auntie, did you get that picture from that Austrian 3 cushion website? Super.

Yes, I grabbed a frame from it that I loved. Really nicely filmed and lit, and if you look close you can actually see the tip deforming on impact.
