B Side Runners To The Championship

I have been playing pool for at least 28 years of my 42 young year life,and there is nothing better in pool than watching a guy (been there) getting knocked the b side first or second match and go through the b side and WIN the championship.
Thats what is so exciting about pool is that you are NEVER out,i love when i see someone go through the b side and WIN.That is the coolest!
To know that you gotta win twice as many matches to get to the final is what pool is all about.dig deep in yourself and think one match at time.
Everyone cheers for under dog,the guy that battles back from the dead...
and that guy is on such a high ,its tough to knock him off.
there are alot of pro players that are famous for going to the b side and coming back to some serious cash. and i love to see it.

MY question to all of you who do u think is a great come from the dead B side player?

of course me being from calgary,i pick edwin(too bad he had to play tyler edey,his traveling buddy and lost to him in one of the B finals today)

I didn't quite understand the part about having to win twice as many matches from the B side. When does that happen?

I did some counting on an assumed full field of 64 players... and here's what I learned.

If a player loses his first match in a double elimination tournament, then he will play a total of 12 matches if he should win every match to get to the finals... explanation follows... his first match is the one that he loses on the A side... and then matches 2 thru 11 are to get thru the B side and be the last one standing... and then his 12th match will be with the player who won the point.

By comparison, the player that wins the point will have played in 7 matches to get there... and has one more to play with the winner of the B side for a total of 8 matches.

So, while not "twice"... it's a ratio of 12:8... or 50% more than the winner of the point has to play.

These words he speaks are true, someone who for instance loses his first match and is on the B side early has to win sometimes 2 - 3 more matches than the undefeated A side hotseat holder.

Many feel that the "B" side is the soft side. You may play more games but the games may be against lesser players too. I haven't played a great many tournaments in the past but of the small tournaments that I have won, maybe a fourth or less were from the "B" side. With true double eliminations that means that I had to finish by beating the person that hadn't dropped a set yet two sets straight.

I always felt that I kind of backdoored the win when this happened and it never meant as much as beating everyone I faced that night. Different views and I suspect that both have some merit.
