Actually there was a Kelly case made in Milwaukee WI. early to mid 1970's? Who made them I do not Know, but it wasn't Bill McDaniel.

That's what I was thinking about. I knew there was a style very similar to the King Kase that I saw that was called a Kelly case.

I don't have great photos yet of our case. BUT I can tell you from all I have seen, or studied.. *snicker* this is the fanciest case to surface by King. When I have all the photos, the WOW factor is big.

This case has a pouch that you can see with a buckle. The lid at the top and on the pouch has edge tooling. As does the entire sides and the reverse side has a pool table mural.

I would love to know who did the work and we are trying hard to find people associated with them, or who knew them.

JV

No I did not Joe. I never said any such thing.

Please provide your proof if you intend to defame me.

I have NEVER said I would bring any type of police to any show.

Again you are either willfully lying or you are ignorant of the facts.

John,
Either way, you know what, it's not productive to the posting and start of the thread.

Good luck to you..

JV

Well Mr. Condescending nitball, not all Kings are made this way, hence the reason for the thread. So much for your "studying"....

Keep digging John, the hole will cave in.

JV

Really?, please show us some other example then. Per my study I have only found King Kustoms that were done exactly like the one I restored.

From Dick Abbot's site:

I have not seen anyone ever show any other old case and call it a King Kustom without it looking like these two.

So far in this thread we have seen Kelli Cases which are Fellini copies. We have seen Kelly cases which are nothing like the listed examples of King Kustoms. And we have seen your leather sleeve that you listed in the second post that you believed it to be a King Kustoms. Even though all known examples which I have seen showed the King Kustoms to be a case made in a completely different style that required absolutely no sewing.

Well anyway, if you find out anything else that you really want to know then feel free to add it to the case history thread.

Really? There is no either way. You don't get to throw out accusations like that and then not back them up.

Look at my first posts in this thread, I answered your GENERIC questions and comments.

Did you bother to post that you already have a King Kustoms and you need more information? No you asked if anyone knew of them, (yes, I do), if anyone has one (yes, I did). And I added that I made a replica based on the one I had which tells you and everyone that I know how it was built.

Then what did YOU do. You come over the top with insults and insinuations. Now an outright lie, an outright LIE saying I threatened to bring the ivory police to a cue show.

The thing is that I know you are out there repeating this lie to every person you speak to. That's how you are.

But for the record I NEVER said any such thing. Not once not ever.

So there is no either way here. You have deliberately told another lie about me. I say deliberately because I am confident you know the truth of it as it's all there for anyone to read. But instead you CHOOSE to twist it and tell a lie to make me defensive yet again.

This is your problem Joe, you simply lie and then I am stuck with having to assert the truth because you know full well that if I don't rebut you then people will accept your lies as if they were true.

Here is a hint, next time state your request more clearly.

An example;

"Hello forum, I have a King Kustom case, I have the address and a picture of the building. I am looking for more information as to who actually made them, any examples of their work, catalogs, business cards, etc... thank you very much"

Not this:

"There was a case company out of Memphis called "King Kustom cases" Does anyone remember them, have one, know of one, remember the company?

These might be the oldest known "leather western style cases". They had heavy stitching (lacing) and had sheepskin interiors.

JV"

The latter is pretty vague and invites ANYONE with ANY information about the cases to post. As I did.

See now you're getting into the spirit... nice pics.

I will correct you though, no one posted a Kelli McDaniels case, so no, we have not seen one, might have been mentioned, but not seen... but good job on the pic from Dicks site.

Really, you have thrown out some pretty good accusations that you cannot back up. But we'll save them for another thread.

My request might be vague, but so far its been pretty well received. Should I have been more specific to catalog literature, sure, or maybe should I have said please do not post copies of them, OK. Sure. I didn't think, all though I should have known better that if it was out there, you would have copied it already. Stupid me...

Being vague on a request will bring out all the krazy... look with a K.. ;)

Why would you not want copies? So if someone says yeah I know of them, I had one in my hands, took it apart to restore it and built an exact replica of it that's not relevant information?

Gee, other than the people who originally built them I guess that means I MIGHT be the only guy on the whole planet who actually knows the case inside and out.

Nah you wouldn't want that guy participating in a thread about the brand in question.

OK so here is mine...

Here is the case. The lid and back panel are one piece, the sides are a piece that is rounded around the bottom, the front panel is separate. This case appears to be a 2 x 4. There is a pouch, the sides are traditionally tooled with leaves, etc... The back panel is a pool table with a colored 9 ball rack. I will get into the owner at another time, good story...

Enjoy the pics.. still looking for pertinent information.

The last pic by John, the inside doesn't appear to have a white sheepskin lining. But still hard to tell.

Obviously I can't speak to how all these cases were made. The one I had which I took all the way apart had a black fake fur lining.
