Back before recorded time.. (for collectors and old timers) King Kustom Cases

Here is the back of the case...

and a special surprise...

While talking to golfparent of AZ, he mentioned another area case maker named Rose cases.. funny this case has a rose and the makers initials of TLC. Now this is why threads like this, are useful... looks like there is a little King / Rose relationship and now we have two companies that little are known about.

Yes, John, this is Richard Austins case...

When Mark and I bought this, we had no idea of the maker or who RA was.. did a little research on that also...

So has it been decided that this case is a King Kustom or even made in Memphis?

In the for sale description the indication is that it's a King with question marks. Is there not a stamp on it like the other King Kustoms that we know of?

$400 for a leather sleeve of unknown origin seems excessive. If anyone wants to have a replica of this unknown sleeve you can get one from me for $150.

I don't post here much, but I have been around a while and read plenty of posts. You appear to make decent cases, but I would never order one from you simply because you act like you are 12 years old. You aren't the first person to head to China to use absurdly cheap labor to make your product, but you are the only one I have ever seen that likes to brag about it as if you have somehow done exactly the opposite.

For the record I didn't head to China for the cheap labor. I was sent to China to work on projects for someone else. While here I met a woman, married her and started my own business making cases. In my apartment with just one person to help me. Since then we have grown into a small workshop with 15 people working on the cases.

Because the labor is cheaper we can afford to put more of it into our cases. Putting this into perspective, if we spent the same amount of labor on the cases in the USA then a case we charge $500 for now should cost around $1200.

Sorry that you don't like me, get in line. I have a few lists of other case makers up for you to choose from www.jbcases.com/aboutus.html

I don't tolerate hypocrites, liars, and scammers. Sorry if me posting my thoughts on such people or in response to such people bothers you. I don't like the fact that Joe makes it seem like this unknown case is a King Kustom case and is trying to charge $400 for that. If it were listed as an unknown case then it wouldn't bring $200 for a simple leather sleeve. Sorry, but it bothers me. Maybe you're ok with this type of salesmanship but I am not. Everyone has their own moral lines and still we manage to get by so it's cool if you are ok with this.

If you ever change your mind though, you can buy a case from someone who is honest and totally upfront about what he does, why he does it and where he does it, www.jbcases.com/orderform.html

I honestly don't care what anyone charges for items they are selling, and you are more than welcome to say that you think it is priced too high, or possibly not represented properly. However you did not leave it at that, you had to stick in the fact that you would make someone a copy for $150. I'm honestly amazed that you didn't offer to make them a "superior" copy for $150.

Superior goes without saying. :-)

And what's wrong with saying I will make replicas of old extinct cases? At whatever price.

But you're right about acting like a 12 year old because I did throw that in just to mess with Joe a little. You see, he spends a lot of time creating replicas, more or less, of cues made by former cue makers. But at the same time he likes to call me a knockoff artist often. So I poked him a little by saying I'd be happy to knock off his (possibly) King Kustom sleeve.

As well Joe likes to knock my pricing so I gave him a little back on that front. Maybe that's one reason it hasn't sold yet. Previously it was listed without the King Kustoms insinuation and it didn't sell then either. Or maybe it's just that few people want a case with the word "SNAKE" tooled on it.
