Back Hand English

I have watched several videos about this and was wondering if you are supposed to keep your elbow still and only move the grip hand or if you are supposed to move elbow and grip hand together. thanks

backhand english is something like this....."where's my money?". Then the person's head should rotate. then you can apply a little post backhand english. " wheres my money?"

pre-backhand english: " where's my money" apply this with a 90 degree arm bend with palm facing opposite shoulder, lean forward with a meanie face.
 
Really it is what ever works for you ! There's different strokes for different folks. I know that old saying is corny. But the title of your thread is much worse. How so you ask? Well it says "backhand english". Now just what is that opposed to fronthand english. Come on man (as they say on ESPN NFL show) ! I mean what other hand could be involved with english, Right?:thumbup:

I'm a little confused on it too. I feel like I should know this stuff as it gets mentioned all the time. From what I can see, most pool players use what is apparently labelled "Backhand english"... they keep their bridge hand still, and just move the back hand to steer the tip until it's pointing to the left or right side of the ball. The stick pivots around the bridge. I pretty much never see anyone move their front hand or entire body to put spin on a ball.

Maybe I'm crazy.

Best guess: don't worry about moving the elbow. We're talking moving enough to steer the tip like 6-12 millimeters. I don't think it's gonna matter if your elbow happens to shift a few millimeters along with the hand.
