Back to back victories for Filipinos...Is it possible?

:) Dennis Orcollo's sterling performance at the Enjoypool.com (formerly BCA Open) in Las Vegas is phenomenal......do we see another Pinoy hoisting the winner's trophy in the World 10-Ball Championship in Jacksonville, Florida?......:)

Even without Efren and Alcano, the Filipino contingent is still strong. My favourites to win this would have to be either Dennis Orcullo or Lee Van Corteza.

If I had to pick a winner out of that field, I'd pick Django. He's so great at manipulating the CB path in order to deal with a lot of traffic; I think 10-ball plays to his strengths more than 9-ball. Also his break power makes more of a difference in 10-ball than 9-ball, since the less powerful breakers (including Orcullo) don't sink a ball as often as in 9-ball.

I don't know

I think I favor Corteza or Manalo this go around, except for a possible stopper in Thorsten Hohmann.

I would like to see Shane VB announce his arrival to the pro ranks though.

Didn't he lose to Corey in last year's 10-ball event, even though Corey fouled numerous times on the break using his patented soft break?

But I'm guessing that was an off tournament for Dennis. His confidence should be high after his recent win, so I'm guessing he snaps off this tournament as well...

...unless Dennis plays Corteza.

:) Roy, if I may add to your observation of being called 'malaking isda' (big fish) in Manila.
Oftentimes, it literally connotes somebody who's just got into a deadly fish net. No way of getting out. You can only wiggle out for a few moments, but for sure you'll end up being beaten black and blue. This is the favorite remark of pool hustlers and kibitzers alike in pool rooms around the city. They readily feast on their prey like hungry predators. They are instantly relieved that at least, their pockets can be full this day with the presence in their midst of this 'malaking isda'. :)
