Today while recovering a olhausen i noticed the cushion had cracks all thru it. It looked like somebody had taken a razor and cut the rubber.
Literally it was a couple hundred of these cuts. Some went a good quarter
inch from the nose back. cushion still played o.k but it you ran your hand along the covered rail you could feel them. I have always serviced this table and have never seen accufast go bad. Anybody seen accufast go bad?

I had 2 rails in 13 years that went bad on my Olhausen tables I had in my pool room.

Thats a pretty good track record!! Normally, you guys know its the typical
rock hard cushion or the old chewing gum variety bad cushion. This cushion still looked and felt great. Just a ton of cracks!!! What went bad on your accufast?

They went rock hard. I was very pleased with the tables.

I installed a brand new Olhausen Waterfall about a year or so ago. Two weeks later the family's friend came over and played on it. Said the rails were bad. I told the woman that Olhausen's rails don't go bad. She said "Oh yes they do, my friend said they are bad, and he plays REALLY good!" I felt like asking if he gambles. LOL She got pretty upset when I told her, "No offense, ma'am, but between your friend and I, who is the authority on Olhausen tables?"

Anyway, Scruffy, depending on the age and model of the table, it may not have had Accufast rubber on it. Any Accufast I've seen is black, so that's one indication. They just started using it, maybe 10-12 years ago? They still have some lower price-point models that do NOT have Accufast as well.

This doesn't sound like what you're describing, but I HAVE noticed that almost all Accufast rubber will have a coating on it. It's just a very thin layer, but it will crack and chip. It won't affect the play or anything, but it'll have a very thin black layer that looks cracked like glass. I'll have to ask the Olhausen guys next time I talk to them what that is, but I imagine they spray the finish on the rails after the rubber is attached. I'll post when I find out for sure though.

I've replaced other conventional Olhausen cushions over the last 25 years, but never the newer Accu-Fast cushions.

Yeah, its definetly accufast. I was olhausen dealer for 14 years. Its black as black and says accufast on it. this table is only about 8 or 9 years old.I
I know exactly what your saying about the overspray on the rubber, but its nothing like this, these cracks are very deep.I have replaced a ton of older olhausen cushion but never accufast.

cushions

Older Olhausen, World Of Leisure and most American Heritage are almost guaranteed cushion jobs but never seen bad Accu-fasts. I have seen a fair amout of bad Super-speeds over the years too. I have heard rumors of American Heritage tables coming out of the containers with rock hard cushions.
