I've been seeing alot of posts lately about bad apples, folks that just take what they can con out of people. Its happened to all of us at some point, directly or indirectly. I gave away 6 cues during this past Christmas season, and was thanked for each of them.

Now the difference in my situation is I gave them away freely from my heart to people I believed would benefit from my gift the most. It doesn't matter to me what they did after that point, because I did what felt good to me.

Even now, I still offer the chance of a free cue to those that give me a few deals. Get me 5 customers that buy a cue at $200 or more and I'll give you a cue or a case.

But... I don't condone thieves. Someone who steals deserves nothing.

Wow, I never once considered this post to be an ad. Honestly, I'm a little taken back by this. Yes, I'm a business, but as my friends will tell you, I'm not here to take your last penny. This post was my way of saying that even though there seems to be an uprising of bad apples, I don't regret the decisions I've made and that I still see reason to help people out. But, by all means, bash away if it soothes your soul to do so.

Don't worry Matt....some people are only happy when they criticize.
 
Sorry Mr. Webb. I guess that was a cheap shot. Your post originally came across like you were trying to sneak an ad/promo under the radar. "Buy 5 get one free" sort of. But I get the sense you didn't mean it that way.

Well you can't control what those people do, just keeping doing what you feel is right. I think it's good of you to help out some of the less fortunate.

I gave a younger guy a cue a long time ago. It wasn't anything special, it wasn't really worth anything to me. But he really appreciated it. In fact it was years later when a guy walked up to me and introduced himself to me and asked if I remembered him. I said I didn't and then he showed me his cue and it hit me!

It turns out that shortly after I gave him the cue he and his family moved away. He continued to play pool and kept the cue all those years. He was back in town at the local pool hall and remembered me. I couldn't believe it. He thanked me for helping him get started in pool and bought me a beer! BTW, he's a pretty decent shot now.;)

You just never know what kind of an impact you will have on a persons life. Good or bad.
