Did Balabushka ever sign any of his cues? This guy at the bar is claiming he has a real Balabuska. He text me pictures of it signed and I told my buddy that I don't believe he signed his cues. This does not look real to me. Thanks Louie

The Adam Balabuska cues bear a reproduction of his Signature. I have one. I don't know if he ever signed any of his originals. I would be careful.

All mid 60's GB cues I've seen don't have a signature. Keep in mind I've not seen an original in person and I have no bearing on the subject, however I do believe the signature was not added until the company reopened after George passed.

If you search any original Balabushka, there are no signatures; his design and consistency was his signature.

He doesn't necessarily need to be careful as the OP doesn't say anything about anybody trying to SELL a signed 'bushka, just that his friend said he claims to HAVE one.

Prolly an Adam cue. I had a League Operator in a BCA league I played in that had an Adam 'bushka (also signed) and thought that it too was an original. Didn't have the heart to say otherwise. I'll let somebody else do that somewhere down the road.

You're correct. I guess sending pics & the words 'real deal' led me to believe it was a possible sale offer.

Regards to You,

Regards to You,

Not trying to be an ass here or be argumentative, but in this age of technology with cellphones, people are ALWAYS texting people pictures of something. And, from the neck-of-the-woods you are from, you must certainly know that the term "real deal" is the same as saying that it is the real thing (actual item).

Maniac (or as we used to say....the "real McCoy")

I hear you.

Yeah, I was admitting my being an a** for assuming.

However, I'm 59 & still using a Beam Me up Scotty, flip phone.

We also refer to people as the 'real deal'. Some are & some are not.

Best Regards to You Sir,

FWIW ... I read someplace that the Balabushka that Fast Eddie tossed to Vincent was actually a Joss.

You may have read it here. I think JAM posted that Keith said all the cues in the movie, save his and maybe one other were made by Joss.

I paid $600 for a knock-off, thinking it was the real deal. Plays good.

A girl who used to be on one of my teams did the same thing. I think she may have only dumped $250 on it though. Depending on the model you got you didn't necessarily get ripped off. I think they go from about $500 to just under $1000 new. The one she bought plays well.

No idea how people would think they were getting an original for that kind of money though, no offense.

I was working in front of a home a few years back when I heard the sound of a rack of balls being broken. Later the owner of the house was in the yard and started to talk to me. I brought up the subject of pool and of course he was very into the game. The next day I mentioned to him that I collect a few cues and he told me he had an Balabushka and I could check it out.

You guessed it it was an Adam Balabushka and the owner wanted my opinion on what this cue was worth. I did not have the heart to tell him it was not an original and told him it might be worth a pretty penny;).

Joss still has that cue model for sale. They are a very popular Joss cue. Adam Cue Company indirectly burned me by "misrepresenting" it's knock-off. (I thought I was stealing when I bought it from an old man).

None taken. The locals warned me not to do business with this con artist. The $600 was a fair retail value for the cue.

Here is a link explaining how Adam licensed Balabushka cues, complete with signature. You can check through the website and see which model matches the cue in question.

Still a good bit of "spin" in that story. At least it says only the name was licensed. It mentions the Color of Money but does not bother to mention that cue was a JOSS...LOL!

Anyway....yeah....Balabushka never signed a cue, or at least none have been found that he signed.

The signed cue in the pic was an Adam.
