Anybody know where I can order some balkline and straight rail tapes? Searched all over the net and really can't find anything. Also, if anyone has tapes/DVDs/books for sale I would be interested. Thanks, Oscar

Kozoom (www.kozoom.com) has two interesting products on balkline. The one already mentioned from Frederic Caudron's site is a must-have for any carom (or even pool) student. He demonstrates all of the carom games including straight rail, four types of balkline, cushion caroms (1-cushion) and three cushion. At all of the "small" games, he demonstrates long runs and explains in English what he is doing.

The second Kozoom product is a video of the semi-finals and finals of the most recent 18.2 (in metric 47/2) balkline World Championship. In it, Caudron runs 300 in each match. He also had a 300-and-out run in the quarter-finals for something over 900 consecutive points. (I don't know how the 1/8-finals match ended.) The runs are not perfect (except for stretches in which Caudron walks the balls up and down the line), but there are only a few long drives and some periods spent on the short end of the table rather than across a line.

I'm not sure about how much shipping by Kozoom is now, but I found it cheaper to get them at at: http://www.i-billiard.com/

There are several other products there including a DVD by Jean Reverchon that demonstrates the 100 official shots from the Artistic Billiards program.
 
wow, thanks a lot Mr. Jewett. That is very useful info. I've been watching a lot of 3 cushion tapes. I have around 40. Some with balkline footage exhibitions. Unbelievable stuff. The control these players like Semih, Blohmdahl, Lee, and many others have is unbelievable. These tapes will be a nice xmas gift for myself.:) THANKS again, Oscar Dominguez

Oscar, ya know there is gonne be a nice 3-cushion tournament at Eight Ball in Maywood, Ca in Feb. I wanna check it out for sure.

Mazin Shooni (US National Champ) will be in town for that.
