Ball rattling in the pocket and then "jumping" out

I have noticed on the tables I play on that if you rattle a ball with speed, it will jump several inches in the air and fly towards the other corner pocket.

This also applies to the side pockets.

I've never seen this before. What do you think is going on with the pockets to make the ball behave like this?

There is something going on with the pockets, a ball that clearly should fall in the pocket somehow rattles out.

Diamond leather pockets are the ONLY leather pockets I like.
My longest 'pack' in a tournament ended with the 9 drilled dead
center and coming back onto the table.
Someone asked me what happened and I told them I hit the ball so
good it wanted to see who did it.

Might be time to call RKC.

Just to clarify, the ball is not actually going into the pocket, it is rattling between the pocket points, but so far in that you would swear the ball should drop.

Hmmmm well just sounds like you aren't used to the cut of the pockets. If you are just rattling the balls at the points then thats the way that table plays. All brands of tables and even different tables within the same brand have different pocket cuts. Some have deeper shelves or a more open angled pocket cut which is more conducive to rattling. Just have to hit the hole

That's true, but what would cause the ball to jump in the air?

Hmmmm the only time a ball SHOULD ever come off the table of the bed much is when hitting the ball pretty firm, the height increasing the more jacked up you are hence a jump shot for example. Is it just popping up a little and staying on the table? If so sounds like you are hitting the stuffing out of the ball...if you aren't hitting the ball that firm then there is probably a table issue. Does the rail height seem consistent all the way around?

thats one of the best one liners I ever heard.....awesome don't worry I will steal it lol

No I am not overpowering the shot. For example on a long shot down the side rail, it is nearly impossible to hit it with speed and pocket the ball.

Other good players at my pool room have complained as well. On a shot down the end rail you really have no choice but to hit the end rail pocket edge before the ball drops.

These are not overly tight pockets, 2 balls will fit.

if you look into the pocket, you will probably notice no downward angle were the ball is rattling. if so, I would suggest having a mechanic increase the downward angle and a set of neoprene facing from Diamond.

Do you have any idea as to how many different manufactures of pool tables there are?...when you describe something like this...be a little more specific....like what kind of table are you talking about here?...because it could be the design of the table....it could be from the work the table mechanic did on it last...who knows...but the best place to start...is what kind of table are you talking about???
