Think of springing for a NEW Set, am my practice ball set is made up of 3 old chipped sets, some from europe, some from asia, and I have not really hear anything bad as of late about the brands coming in to the US from Asia sold by Mullers, or some of the other online retailer price at under $50.00.

Cheapo!

Take your ball in to the pool room, one at a time in your jacket pocket.

I know you wear one, you old fart.

Then you can trade them out for new ones.

I did some tests between the Aramith Measles ball and the Chinese red spotted CBs.

After some 50 draw shots with both balls, I got a little better draw with the Aramith ball - probably about 10% better. The contact sound with the OB (Aramith Premiers) was about the same.

I will always use the Aramith's for all competition matches and when practicing for tournaments. I have no problem teaching beginners with the Chinese red spotted CBs.

A local pizza place has two bar tables and has weekly tournaments. The TD always replaces the bar CBs with the Chinese red spot CBs - which gets much better table action.

I apologize for being [slightly] off topic, but I WISH that the darker colored calls, in particular the 6 and the 8 ball were striped with thin white stripes. It's almost impossible to see the edge when they're near the rail ... as that's where the light shines least. Dark ball + shadow + dark green cloth = very little contrast. The light boxes should be the width and length of the playing surface, also.

hmmm I'd say check this thread when everyone comes back from Vegas... Big things are in the works and something old is new again.....

Going into retirement, very soon, not sure how they got the funny lines?

Bruce just bought a Melton case, he is broke. :-)

For casual play Bruce I honestly don't think you will see much difference between the polyester balls and the phenolic balls. But if you are sensitive then look for the better quality sets.

Why?

Do you think it's impossible for anyone else to make balls as good?

I think it is possible for anyone to make a product like a Pool Ball Set, it is the after sale service, where Aramith is very iffy. If they think it was their fault, he they feel like doing any thing, if they are in the mood. Send Aramith a e-mail, and ask what their warranty is. You will get a very surprising answer.

My next ball set.

Not broke, just waiting for my monthly stipends from my UNCLE.

I have what I believe to be a lower end set of Aramiths. You can have them for the cost of shipping. PM me if you want them. I would guess it to be ~$20.00. They are in great shape.

Aramith vs. Brunswick Centennial

Ceebee..... just to be clear, Brunswick Centennial Pool Balls are actually still Aramith pool balls under a different name.............Aramith makes the Brunswick Centennial line.
