Ballance Point for a 66 1/2 " cue?

I'm using an extension on my cue full time. (Not because I want to be like Earl and Shane, it's because I'm 6'11".)

The cue is 66 1/2" inches long, and I wanted to ask what you cue makers thought would be the ideal balance point for a cue that length?

19-1/2 to 21" range would be ideal IMO. That is by far the longest cue I've heard of.

Thanks, Jazz.....I'll play around with the weight and see what feels best.....it's good to know what range to keep the balance point in.

Yeah...it's so long, I almost bumped a ball on the table next to me on my backstroke haha

Do you have a preferred balance point with a normal 58" cue? If so, calculate the balance point for a 66.5" cue using the same ratio.

For example, assume you like an 18.75" balance point for a 58" cue. 18.75 is rather neutral. The ratio from rear of the cue is 18.75/58, which is .32328. Multiple that by a longer cue, 66.5, and you get a new balance point of 21.5".

Depending on where most of the extra length is in relation to your stance/grip/bridge, that starting point would be tweaked of course. Since most of the time extra length tends to be in the front, 21.5" would be very forward balance. My suggestion would be start with 20.75".

Not meant to contradict Martin...just a mathematical way to get a ball park initial number.

Thanks, Kelly!.....I'll start with that and see how it feels.

My suggestion is that the balance point should be 1/3 of the way up the cue. In your case 22", for a regular cue, 19.3" I 've used this in all different length cues I've built I think 19" on your cue would make it like a fly rod.
