Balls made off break (9 ball)

I have seen 5 down on the break, top of table being from the head string, 9 ball top right, one each side pocket and one each bottom corner. And he did it with my cue.
The most down on a break was 6 but he did not sink the 9. I did not get a shot at best of 3.

I made 6 once with no shot after the break! That was at the old
Hollywood Billiards (western & Hollywood).

I have yet to make any balls on the break. Someday I hope to luck one in.

I use a 84" break cue and follow through all the way to the end rail.

Sure thing once I get a groove back and another break stick. Reason for quitting was I moved and was not about to drive 40 miles one way to shoot pool at Chattanooga Billiard Club (Tennessee)

There are no leagues or any places worth a shit around here. Couple little ass places but there full of kids some adults and lots of drugs. Just not a place I want to be. I sill will not be on any leagues because I will have to drive to Chattanooga but having my own table I will be able to shoot daily again.

Worth the drive <once in awhile> as Phil Windham runs a good show. The Havana Room in the back is the nutz. Food wise, you can't beat it.

Bob <Not positive Phil still owns it as it's been over a dozen years since I was there. I heard rumors there was a sale; however. they were rumors ;)>

Yes Phil still owns it as far as I know. If it was for sale and I had the money I would buy it in a heart beat. The place stays packed at night. But I would reduce the prices on table rental a little and have free house sticks instead of charging $1 per cue.

When I was a regular I had the Havana Room membership. I was up there about 10 hours a day through the week. So it was nice to take a break from shooting and grab some killer food and relax for a bit.

Now that I am shooting again I will make a trip up there once in a while. just not every day like I used to go. IMO it's the best place in Chattanooga to go shoot.

Now that's Awsome. LMAO

I played 9 ball the first time tonight since I been shooting again. Every break I sunk one or two balls and on one scratched in the left side pocket. :( That was with a shitty house cue. I get my Gulyassy back tomorrow..

Most I've ever gotten was 4. I ran out.

I've seen 5 many times, including once when my opponent hit me with 5 twice in a row. He ran out one of them, and made the 9 on the break in the other.

Never seen a 6 in person.

Isn't there a video somewhere of Alex Pagulayan making either 6 or 7, with an easy shot on the low ball and a very easy out, and dogging the shot after the break?

Yep, he was playing Santos Sambajon -- here's the vid:

Glad to hear the place is still packed. He keeps a lot of in-house leagues going -- various levels too. If I remember right, he had a tournament every night at midnight.

I liked going to the "Old School Chattanooga Billiard Club" downtown periodically just to relive the good old days. That room has some serious history! When I was there last, I had the honor of driving Rempe from Jordan Street to the downtown location where he gave a Camel Sponsored Exhibition. Man, that had to be at least a dozen years ago -- maybe even more. We went back to the Havana Room and Phil hooked us up with some sweet cigars. His humidor is awesome! I came very close to moving there; but, life has it quirks .

Thanks for the memories,

Bob

Should be asking

YOu be asking how many balls people make off 10 ball!!!

A bit harder to make balls.

I saw 1 person get 5 on a 10 ball rack, and it was recorded live. That was Wilkie at the Game Show at Comet Billairds, in NJ.

As far as 9 ball, I have done 5, with my Tiger Icebreaker. BTW, which is THE best Jump/break cue on the market.

I have been Downtoen a couple times. (after CBC east) I just never liked it much seems too cramped for me.. When I was shooting there NO midnight tourneys.. But has a tourney every Sunday and still does according to there site. Yes he has leagues (or did) 4 nights a week Monday through Thursday.. I shot Wed and THurs. 8 ball wed and 9 ball thurs.
I really miss it up there.. But DAMN it's just too far to drive even 2-3 days a week..

If I ever move back to Ringgold I will be shooting there.. NO questions.. Moving where I am now is why I quit playing.

i remember playing at a place that had steeplton bucket pocket 4x8 tables and i made 6 on the break dozens of times there, the bad thing is that it seemed 60-70% of the time i was completely hooked unless i kicked or jumped...talking about pissing you off! But they had one gandy 4x8 and that room had a player that thought he was a world beater because of his confidence on them buckets...lol
i brought him to the gandy 4x8 gave him the 7 for thirty a game caught a gear about 30 minutes in the match and broke and ran 11 racks on him (my personal high 9 ball run) he took his cue apart after the 11th rack and said he was out of money.......i turned around and asked if there was anyone that would loan him any money? the place was silent...lol he would have lost everything he had and could get ahold of that night but would never gamble with me again.....
i believe i crushed his ego in front of all his friends and peers... but that would have crushed me too....

Damn I agree that would be a real BLOW to the ego.. Oh and remind me to NOT play you any time soon.. LMAO

Oh and for the record I have not missed a ball in almost 5 years.. Cause I have not been playing.. LMAO

Really when was at my best I am about 85% of the TOP local players game. I am not that Great on running out many racks at a time but I did have a ****in hammer of a break. (working on that now)

I got to a point where I felt I was in a class by myself. Not good enough for the local best and too good for everyone else.. Most of it was in my head. I was better than I gave myself credit for. Playing one of the top 10 players in the area I would win all the time but when we put money down I would not do so well (playin with scared money at the time) When I had someone backing me I could play NO problems..

One local guy knicked named Hennessee. (sp?) I guess had a real power house break.. So they say.. Well we was at a local shit hole joint with bar tables he was there. We got into a 9 ball break contest for $50 a pop.. A pop was 3 racks. One point for every ball dropped and two points for the 9. I beat him 3 sets in a row. He quit after the third set.

5 is the most ive gotten on the break in ten ball as well, i break better at ten ball than i doat nine ball, acually i like ten ball better all the way around

I made 7 balls on a 9 ball break once in practice on an 8ft table. I don't break hard. It's just how the balls are racked - bad. With a perfect rack, you are not likely to make more than 4.
