Bank Players - What kind of cues

I am going to go with Jay on this one...
I use the same cue no matter the game.. there are toooooo many variables in our game... swaping out cues just adds to the list.

Plus who wants roll to room with a dealer case full of 9ball, 8ball. 1p, 14.4,bank cues plus jump cues break cues and J/B cues?????

too much stuff man.. too much

A different cue for banks??? Not me, that's a funny suggestion though. I too, prefer a straight cue with a tip!;)

I prefer a stiff cue

While I prefer a stiff shaft for banks, it aint essential. Eddie Taylor and Bugs most often just pulled a one piece off the wall when they played. A stiff shaft makes you more mindful of using a minimum amount of english.

Brian's cue is an old Jack Shurtz but, the shaft is from a Southwest. He had it matched up by a local repair guy years ago.
I have always played with southwest. I normally Like to put a southwest pin in a bottom butt of a cue, Its important to have an original southwest shaft with an ivory ferrel, morri tip with the weight in the butt of the cue, so you can do all the work that you choose to do rather than more of a guessing game with the weight in the middle. Approximately 19 oz. Pro taper shaft. Knowing the Diamond correspondance along with this cue method is a powerful package to being a bank monster. Just a little bank info. :D Although people like different things.

is there such a thing as a specific cue for banking? anyway, what do you seem to accomplish in having a different brand of cue for banking? it still gives the same effect. it does not make you more or less accurate (unless you're using a badly warped cue). bank the shot and that's it, or put something extra special like manipulating the CB which only relies to your pool knowledge and not the cue. anyway, to answer the question of the thread, I use the playing cue for banking.

Getting an OB-1 has definitely improved my banks game; just like every other game I play. With the low deflection and stiff hit I feel much more confident hitting a bank because I have better control on where I am going to hit it and with what type of speed and english.

I don't specifically use this combination for just banks, I shoot with this combination all the time. Seems to work very well with banks, Although good cue makers dont like you to tamper with the cue they build.

I love the bank game.. that's really all i play. I agree with a lot of the other players on here and its not really the stick, you know what I mean? I normally play with a Viking.. (which I love), it's 19.5 oz. butI can pick up any stick and play just as well or maybe just as bad, depending on the day. But thats just my opinion.... IDK?

Truman Hoague(SP) Used a gus Szam this year at the derby, A few days later i got to know him so I asked him what his best runs were he said: his best run in practice was 33 he said "just throwing balls on the table". In action he ran 27 and out 3X9 without a miss. Wow. I think I would like a stiff shaft if I got serious about banks a SW would be fine,

Back in '96 when Hollywood Billiards had a 3-c table and snooker table upstairs Efren took on a cheap 3-c game with one gentleman who was shooting with an elephant-ear wrapped Gina cue. I was sitting next to Efren when the owner introduced the gentleman ( odd he played billiards ) who very politely asked Efren for a game. They agreed to race to 35 .
When we got upstairs I asked Efren if he had a billiard cue. He said no and he was under contract to use his cue.
Efren pulls out Meucci cue with a tapered down shaft.
Efren had a high-run of 6 points and won 35-31.
Kicker was Efren said he hadn't played 3-c since '82.:D
Joey~Misses the snooker and 3-c tables upstairs at Hollywood~
