Anywhere the Ohio River went from Youngstown Oh. down to Parkersburg West Virginia up to Cincinnati Oh & down to Louisville Ky to Paducah Ky to the Mississippi River up to Chicago you will find the best bank pool players in all the world!🤣 Wherever the steam boats tow boats show boats and barges went large to small rivers along the Ohio river they played BANKPOOL! Sounds very believable. More than any other game, bank pool has a very regional presence and, most of the states in which it is played are close to the Ohio River.
 
Could be something in the water because in the pool halls I have been to the most obnoxious players always were the bank pool players.
 
When the game went from an outside lawn game in mild weather to a table game during winter they put barriers around the table to keep the balls from falling off that became known as banks.
That's why today we have bank shots,nothing to do with rivers LOL.

Ohio , Kentucky, Chicago, if you couldn't bank you went broke. We all played 8 Ball-Bank the Eight, no body shot the eight straight in!

That has absolutely nothing to do with bank pool 🤦‍♂️ do you have any idea what bank pool is?
