I was playing 8 ball in a bar last night. No money or great players involved. Just a social game where you sign on a board to play and winner stays. I missed my last ball on a runout and my opponent then left me with the situation below. I am stripes.

Maybe this is routine stuff for most of you guys, but I would not have had a clue how to figure this two rail kick out if I had not been studying and practicing from Freddie's book. Page 150 - 2 Rails In The Corner - 1:4 Ratio.

I was just hoping to hit the ball, but ended up making the 14, straight in on the 8, which I made for the win. Chinese bar railbirds went crazy and my opponent bought me a beer. He asked me how I knew to shoot that shot. I replied, "Just a lucky guess."

This stuff works. Thanks Freddie.

Awesome shot, GADawg!! It's not as easy as it looks.

I have been dying to post my all time greatest shot, but the WEI board doesn't do it justice. I love your table diagram, crystal clear! Where can I make a table layout like the one you showed?

Russ. Thanks. It was fun to even be able to think about that kick.

I made the diagram at www.cuetable.com (the new Wei table) and then followed the instructions from renard at the following thread.

A little cumbersome methodology, but after a couple times, is pretty easy.
 
Nice shot...........isnt it nice to pull something out of your "quiver" and execute a shot. It is always good to have background knoledge or a system that will help aiding you in a shot.

That was a very good shot, and evidently your speed control was right on.
You'll be seeing all kinds of angles now ... lol
 
Describe to us the feeling you had upon seeing the leave for the first time. How you felt setting up the shot. Then finally how you felt after making it. Confident all the way?

Did you feel that it was a higher percentage shot than you normally would after reading Freddies book?

I know sometimes during a game people will say, "What's he doing?" when you line up a shot. Or, "He's got a snowballs chance." But as a shooter you line it up and just feel real good about your chances...

When I first saw it my immediate reaction was "Sh*t, what now?" Then after taking a few seconds to look at it, I recognized the shot as something I had done before. I thought "Hell, I might be able to do this."

I had practiced the shot the week before, not on the same table. but many reps from different cue ball positions, so I felt reasonably confident that I knew what to do. Execution under game situation was another matter however, and I was not sure what was going to happen.

I certainly thought it was a higher per centage shot after reading the book,AND PRACTICING THE SHOT, as I am sure I would not have really had any idea about it before.

I felt good about my chances of hitting the ball and was sure nobody around the table had a clue what I was doing. I really thought that if I didn't hit it, it was either due to the table( rails) or poor execution on my part and was willing to accept either one or both. My other options were nil. When it went in, it was the icing on the cake. I did call the shot before I took it.

Fortunately, things turned out well and my confidence took a great boost.
