Bar Table Champions

I will say this that there is a different stroke in playing on a barbox. But, I doubt that it will take very long for a champion to adjust. For instance, in a 10 ahead or so match...I think that a pro or big table champion will easily adjust their stroke. The strategy is still the same with regards to runouts and safety play. I always practice running balls on a big table to improve my accuracy on a barbox. You simply adjust your break and your stroke. That is it.... Yeah if you are using a typical barbox cueball it can also cause you to adjust as well. My point being is that a good or great player will adjust his or her game. The learning curve may be enough to give that "unknown" barbox player an edge in short races and that is about it. I think it is much easier going from a 9-ft table to a barbox rather than taking a barbox player to a 9-fter. I remember playing some players in St. Louis that would give me the last 4 on the table playing 9-ball and either rob me or I would break even if I was shooting well. Trust me....those days are long gone. I do not think ANYONE is going to give me the last 4 anymore.

Glenn Atwell just won against SVB last night at the Reno Bar Box Championships. (7-5)
Good example of a monster barbox player beating a top pro.
yes race to 7
anyone could win a race to 7
let the bar box champ play him a set for money.
would not be close.

I agree just about anybody can win a short race. Glen is a very good player and he isn't known because he lives in the Pacific Northwest and there are not any big tournaments up there. If he played in the Florida tour he would turn some heads.

I think SVB would beat 99% of the players in a long race. He is one of the best in the world. Glen cannot be SVB in a long race. Neith can Mr. Bartram!

Tournaments are tournaments. Short races to 7 or 9 can be won by anyone who can run out.

I've beat Schmidt a few times in open event races to 9 and so on.

Tournaments do not prove who can beat who.

Clearly if I played Schmidt even for the cash I would end up with a lighter pocket than I started with.

I'm not taking anything away from Atwell winning the match. Simply saying, Just as we all know, Tournaments and gambling are nothing the same.

Yes, I totally agree with that theory. Bar Box tournaments are different than gambling for big money. I am proud of him. He made it to the finals just 30 minutes ago, beating Adam 7-0. Glenn is playing well. I know it could of easily gone the other way. All the top guys are MONSTERS, including Glenn.
