Bar Table Champions

Donnie chose not to come to Reno to play this match. Chris found a suitable replacement (John Morra). End of story.

At this point in time I have a commitment from Edwin Montal to play. No word back yet from Glenn or Stan. I'd say there is a very good chance this match will happen. The format is yet to be decided.

I find it difficult to come off a Big Table, and adjust to a Bar Box. Sadly most Bar Boxes are in Bars that are not kept up as well as Big Tables.

Instroke75 - You look like my son, enough to be his brother .... LOL

Sorry, but don't like to fly sounds like a pussy excuse. Flying is safer travel than in a car. I would tell him to either get off the pot or s**t.

Satman - Who is the Weldon you spoke of, only Weldon I know of was Weldon Rogers from Oklahoma.

Weldon {Jr} Rogers, He lived in Ft. Wayne, In. for a few years. Had a couple of other alias too. I saw one drivers license he had saying his name was Buford something. He ran with a friend of mine who staked me a few times. I got to see him match up a couple of times, and know some In. people who got snapped off, matching up with him. He got weight from a top In. player, with Weldon shooting one handed. Weldon got the cheese. Only pool I ever seen Weldon play was bar box. Most people didn't like it much.

Gary Nolan came thru Ft. Wayne, played the Sat. 9 ball tourney at The Gibson Girl, and left busted after matching up with Weldon.

I'm not a big traveler, but for some reason christmas time puts me in a very giving mood. So I'm ready to make a donation to someone for christmas.

Here it is... I'll play anybody 9ball even on a 7footer here in my area. Merry christmas!!

I give you high credit for working full-time and playing at the top like you do. Not very many of your kind around. Johnnyt

Yeah, that's it. Nobody needs an extra 10k to throw around. I'm not even a shortstop, but I would play him in Florida but I'm not going to fly, drive, walk, take a train, or a horse and buggy to play. And by the way, John Schmidt seems to have gotten very hateful in the past few weeks. Why such sarcasm and hatefulness in the sunshine state?
i think john is just saying what he thinks of bar pool. he knows more people can run out on bar table which takes away from what he is so good at which is run out on tough tables .

actually

when u make good 6 figures, why worry about a lousy 10'gs..

If you break it down, it's $2500 a man. So, he's going to Reno, to bet $2500, and possibly missing time at work. If he makes good 6 figures, makes sense to me.

Donny, nice Christmas gift. I don't think I've ever seen you play, but thats a nice offer to throw out, playing anyone even.

Why even come on here and woof about playing the world even...then stipulate only in Fla., on my table, rack your own...? Especially if you do not need the money. Either play or dont, but dont woof and then make excuses why you cant travel to play.

If you guys can come out to the U.S. Bar Table Championships in Reno (late Feb.) I think we can get this one on. It is also a good tournament with some decent money attached (about 25K in added money). Glenn, Stan and Edwin will be there. I'm sure two of these three guys will have the backing necessary to play you and Donnie. We're talking about 5K per team, maybe a Race To Ten (or eleven), Eight Ball. How does that sound.

Jay, I'm wondering if you'd agree that Stan T might be one of the best ever on a barbox for tourney play. It seems he's alway at or near the top in those events. I can't comment on gambling matches but I'm just talking tourney play. Also, I hope you can make this happen I'm considering coming out to OD on pool for a couple of days and would love to sweat this matchup.

I like all three of these guys in bar table tournament play (Atwell, Tourangeau, Montal). They can stand up against anyone. Gambling it's harder to say. Probably my pick of the three is Edwin for the cash.

I hope this goes off in Reno. It sounds like a very interesting match. It would be a lot of fun to see just how much if any the partner dynamic would have on the match.

I do not know Glenn Atwell at all, only having seen him a few times in Reno but I know the other guys to varying degrees and one thing they all have in common is that are very steady and quiet players. No hot heads or excitable personalities in that group which I think is important for playing good partners pool.

If these guys want to do this on TAR, and I really hope they do, we are all over it. Pretty cool of Jay to work this out, I hope it goes off.

His finishes in amateur bar table events over the last 20 years, particularly 8 ball, is amazing !! More top 3 finishes than you can possibly count. He doesn't look all that smooth doing it but man does he get it done.

There are a lot of names mentioned in this thread. Great players, but it seems someone's name is missing....... who could it be? Oh, I remember. The 2008 U.S. Bar Table Champion. And Jay......you called the finals match! If I remember correctly, a double dip of Parica. Less than a year ago. How quickly we all seem to forget. What was his name?

Exactly, he doesn't need the money, so why take off work to chase a few thousand dollars? All he said was if you want his money, come down and he will play! Makes perfect sense to me!

You're not very bright are you? I am not traveling any where to play some gambling match... That would be so brutal! Did you know that barry emerson used to come around here years back? I played him and never beat him once. 5 years ago a 1000 guys would not mind coming here to play me and now what?

yeah theres guys who have the best of it against pga tour players and nobody heard of them.lol

the reason people look like champions on bartable is because its much easier to play what looks like perfect pool on a tiny table with big pockets.

ill tell you what ill play these so called unknown champions on a bartable and then we can play on a bigtable until someone wins both sets.

oh by the way i know alot of golfers who can shoot 62 from the 6000 yard tees in golf including me.
but these same people including me couldnt make a cut in 50 tries in a pga tour event.
Damn John, you just can't be beat. I hear you.
