Bar table Titan cloth.

backed cloth is thicker = slow playing, The backing doesn't allow for a good stretch = poor action. I also won't use backed cloth. Titan is a good choice for bar tables, unless your a mechanic the stuff last too long.

Most the vendors i deal with like the backed 20oz championship, bar owners usually dont care, ill price them out for backed cloth and if they squeal about the price ill drop it and throw unbacked championship on there. SD is right it is a lot slower, but it is also more durable. dont get backed teflon, the teflon ruins the stickyness of the glue and causes it to pop off from the backing.

When a banger puts a tip thru backed or unbacked cloth there's still a hole or a rip regardless. As SD noted backed cloth is slow and not able to be stretched unless you pull the backing off. Titan is ok as is Mali but there's at least one worsted cloth to be had in the same price range.

Backed vs unbacked

Differences between backed and unbacked cloth?

Backed cloth IS slower, and I woudn't like it on my table. It is harder to stretch, doesn't play as well, IMO, and is more difficult to work with. That being said, I don't tell customers what I will and won't work with. I give them the info on the cloth that is available, and let them make the decision. Backed cloth is very durable. It comes in teflon protected cloth, or not, and will last a long time on tables that are subject to greater than normal use and abuse, and is the right choice in some cases. I do tables in schools, homes, VA Domacilaries, Mobile Home parks, fraternal Lodges, many Boys and Girls Clubs, College games rooms, and bars-both those interested in good pool and those that are not. It's not my place to tell someone what is right for them, but rather to make a recomendation based on their situation and what is available. It would be irresponsible of me to advise a customer to do rail recalibrations (which I'm not qualified to do anyway), and Simonis 860hr on a table that will never be touched by a person older than 6 years old. It would be neat if all of the tables I worked on were to be used by serious players that were intetested the best playing equipment available, but such is not always the case. To answer your question, though, backed cloth plays like crap, get the unbacked if you can:smile:
