Barbox 1-pocket??

I heard people actually play this. They rack up 10balls instead of 15. Unless it's played on a table with tight pockets and it doesn't roll-off like alot of bar tables, it sounds like a joke to me. Anyone seen this played?

I have done it in Oklahoma, when people start woofing about one pocket in a bar and there are no other tables available. The games do not last nearly as long:-)

I played Surfer Rod on the bar box, 1- pocket many time back years ago. It is pretty frustrating at times and is pretty much a joke, but, what the hell, it was action.

We even played it with 9 balls once. It was hilarious too because I had never heard of it or tried it. I broke by kicking two rails in behind the rack and made the back ball afew time and of course got out after that. Rod near blew a gasket over that one. But, it is a joke though.

I'm asking if it's a popular game in other places. I didn't mean a joke-joke.

I gotcha

You just made it sound impossible that someone would play one pocket on a bar table. Like physically impossible. Like it can't be...you get the idea:D

All over the mountains of Western NC, Tennessee people play fifteen ball barbox one pocket. There is a lot of action in the bars, and there you have it. I've played $50 a pop with the true mudball (the one that is way bigger than the other balls) on a Valley 3 1/2 x7. It is pretty common. Us ol' hillbillies ain't real smart, but we luv's us some pool.

I remember Bill Stroud commenting about this on rsb several years ago. Apparently, Bill had played quite a bit of One Pocket on bar boxes. IIRC, he said they played with all fifteen balls. I've seen it done around here with ten.

I have played many games of one hole with all 15 balls. It was fairly common when you couldn't match up in eight or nine ball on the small table. Playing one handed added the challenge of the big table. Slowed down the runs and forced you to play safe rather risking a miss and selling out. Hey, sometimes you have to play whatever game there is.

Kind of like looking around at the girls in the bar after midnight and after a few drinks, huh? ...........ROFL

There was a bar in downtown Denver (la bonita maybe???) Where a lot of the older mexican/hispanic players would play it with 15 balls. It was just off Colfax. I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Cheers,
RC

Surfer Rod Curry has Gambled Bar Box 1-Hole with Mark Haddad up in Ogden a few times. They played for some pretty large amounts of $$$..

I would rather play russian roulette with a glock than ever play bar pool 1 pocket...

I've played a lot of barbox one-pocket, mostly with 15 balls and occasionally with 9. When the drop pockets are taken when I get to the poolroom, the barboxes are the only alternative.
