I don't know if it's polite to ask ,but who all is bidding on the Barenbrugge on EBay? I'm not, but I did talk to Dave about it the other night. It's the only cue he didn't sell at his booth at VF in 2002 and after that he sold it to pay the Man. Probably his last cue made before he turned everything over to his Japanese friend. ;)
Personally I don't think the reserve will be hit but I've been wrong before. Maybe we could all chip in and then pass it around like the Stanely Cup. :p

OMG, an ivory jointed Barenbrugge.
I bet Dennis Diekman has denounced him already. lol

I can't find post where I had a "few" things to say about Barrenbrugge in the past.

My cue was a couple months away from completion and all of a sudden...bye America, hello Japan. Just like that....my cue was never delivered.

I will never buy one of his cue. If I want butterfly splices...I'll go to Fanelli in New Jersey.

Thats kinda a funny story , i had the exact same thing happen to me from Mr. Barenbrugge ........... And as far as im concerned he could build me one and give it to me and i wont take it either, to me that is selling out .......... Evidently he doesnt have a soul but loves the almighty dollar that much to sell out like that.................................................

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.

He had no remorse at all. He could have at least finish his current orders and then kiss Lucky's butt. Sure, my cue may have been a couple of more months away, but I'm also thinking...out there, someone's cue might have a couple of weeks away!

There are many other cuemakers locked up, now Cog is back and wants American customers!!

Joe Gold will run into several problems trying to sell again on the American market. First, his prices were jacked way by Lucky and, as a result, now that he's back, he may be thinking that he can command such a high price. Still, there is an heir of resentment amongst many that he "sold out" and went oversees and now he wants back into the American industry. A lot of people will have a bitter taste in his mouth.

Secondly, Cogs are generally unattractive (JMO) and look more like production cues than anything else so I don't see a lot of people shelling out for catalog designs and rounded inlays.

As far as Barenbrugge goes, I know very little about the work. I do know that when it comes to butterflies, I'm taking my business to Paul Fanelli anyday. Great cues from a great man. His points are beautiful also.

I had bid on the cue up till the 1800 dollar mark. I wasn't willing to go any higher than this because it is a fairly early cue. It is my understanding that later cues are much better and more desireable.I just thought it was an interesting piece because there are none around..

I think this was discussed a few days ago, apparently the seller ends a lot of auctions early so it probably doesnt matter.

Wow. I never noticed that the thread started that long ago. I thought we were all talking about the cue Cranegod has for sale on Ebay rightnow:D

It is that cue.

I looked at the Barrenbrugge site and was astounded at the prices listed for the cues. And if my eyes don't deceive me, some of the butterfly points were not even with each other. Maybe that is by design.

I would have to speak up and say that i beleive all of his new cues have even points, and his work is exceptional especially his ring work....... Even back when he first started i dont beleive any cuemaker or at leats very few where doing ring work so small in nature............
