Barry Behrman Passes

Catching up today.
WOW!
I sure am glad I made it to the Open this year. Saw Barry with his dogs cruising around.
Very sad.
As a poster said earlier. "He left a wake in his path"
Pat will do a great job moving forward.
Condolences to the family.

I will miss a figure like Barry. I was a regular at the US Opens in the 80s, whether at the Lake Wright Quality Inn, or his own pool room, Q Master. More than once while I was playing in his room before the matches, Barry would come up, introduce himself, ask about my cue, and where I was from, etc. He would also talk about his pool room, a players' room, music kept soft, tables in good condition, etc. I'll never forget the man, and how interested he was in who visited.

It will continue on, but Barry made the US Open what it is. You just need about a 30 year memory.

All the best,
WW

Sorry to hear the sad news. Mr. Behrman was a true one
of a kind with passion and dreams for pool. He, unlike
most of us, made his dreams come true with 'The U.S
Open 9Ball Tournament' that everyone wants to win. My
thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to his family,
friends, and the pool community for such a great loss.

The US Open 9 ball WIN, changed lives, created new ones, and built legacies of the great US players and others from around the globe. For a player like Mika Immonen who lost his second match in beginning to, then run thru the losers bracket and win it, and Tommy Kennedy to man handle Johnny Archer in his prime and win the open, are special US Open moments. I always felt I played better when in Chesapeake VA, and the crowds that attended year after year were one of it's many good parts of this coveted event.

The funeral today and the gathering at Q-Masters afterwards was very touching. It was bittersweet with lots of tears & laughter, Barry will definitely be missed; he was truly one of a kind.
