Last time it was played, it flopped pretty bad.


It's near impossible in the pool world to have a real extravaganza the first year. I think there is room for this tournament but you gotta crawl before you walk and it will likely be poorly attended this time. Here is a little info.

"Welcome to the Masters 10 Ball Tournament. Dates for this event are March 1-5, 2011. $36,000.00 added with a full field of 128 players. Total prize fund of $100,000.00. Player entry fee $500.00. Fans, we have a brand new seating layout for this event that gives everyone a great view.

I think this may not draw as many people as Barry is hoping. I really hope he sticks with it because it could develop into a really great tournament.

I think the problem is the entry fee. There is a lot of dead money in the US Open 9 ball because people enjoy playing and like the history of the event. Also, the working guys who don't have a chance but play every year plan that time into their work vacation schedule. With this being a new event, I doubt as many of those individuals are going to come. With a $500 entry fee, most likely only those who believe they have a chance to win will enter the tournament. With that strong field, that would definitely limit the people who have a chance to win.

I agree- the entry fee is too prohibitive to a large field.

THat said, Barry gots some smarts. I am sure he wants an elite group of players. List looks pretty sporty, with few fillerers
