Does anyone know what Danny Basavich is doing these days ? i haven't heard about him for awhile..Thanks...:)

I understand Danny's health is not so good lately. I've heard from two separate sources that Danny had a heart attack 3-4 weeks ago. I don't want to perpetuate any rumors on here that aren't true, but I consider both of these guys pretty reliable.

Last time I saw Danny, about 7-8 months ago, he didn't look well, and he wasn't playing like himself either.

I haven't heard any other updates. I hope he's feeling better and I wish him well in his recovery.

I to have heard the same thing. Wish him the best

Not sure where I read it, but I read that Danny almost died in his sleep. His girlfriend attempted to wake him to get ready to go to a tournament, and he wasn't breathing. She called 911, and that saved his life. He mentioned that if they had not had plans to go anywhere early that morning, that he'd probably be dead.

He acknowledged in the article that he had neglected his health, but was now going to attempt to change that. He wants to start getting more active, and his doctor has put him on a low sodium-low sugar diet.

Here's hoping Danny makes a swift recovery, and gets things turned around.

For those who wonder about Danny's nickname, "Kid Delicious".. I saw a picture of Danny in front his trophy wall when he was sixteen. A good looking, trim kid. That's when the nickname was attached. He had a beautiful stroke, so the "Delicious" part referred to both his playing speed and his looks.

Good luck, Danny. Yer in our thoughts.

Well that certainly explaines why i haven't heard anything about him the past few months...i hope you come back better than ever Danny...sincerly:)

Danny is such a cool guy in person. When he crashed into the tournament scene for a few months and started winning tournaments/placing high, he became real popular. It wasn't just because of how good he was playing, everyone really liked his personality. I remember watching him at the UPA championships where he finished 2nd to Corey Deuel at the Bicycle Club in Bell Gardens, CA. He seemed to be well liked by alot of the pros there. Him and Johnny Archer seemed to be best of friends. Even though I'm sure people didn't like Danny's excruciatingly slow play (myself included), he still had alot of fans, because he's such a nice and comical guy.

When it was hill/hill in the finals against Corey, and Danny rattled that 8ball and left it in the hole for Corey to win, that was really heartbreaking for me to watch. Danny sat back down in his chair and he got extremely pale and broke into a cold sweat, realizing that he had just lost the match. Even after that tough loss, he was friendly to everyone and was signing autographs and joking around.

Danny's a fantastic guy, I hope his health is okay and he gets back to playing well. I think if he picks up the pace of his game, people would flock from all over just to watch him play.

10 Ball Ring Game

The first 10 ball ring game was held in Starkville, Miss. about 3-4 years ago, by Professor R.H. Gilmer. Seven players were in for $1,500 per man. Danny was one of these players. In fact, Danny was the favorite to win the thing.

As luck would have it, Danny was the first player eleminated. Danny lost 25 games in a row and never won a game. What did Danny do after this humiliating loss? He walked over to the Professor, smiled and said, "Well, Professor, I went 25 and out. When are we going to do it again?" That was and is Danny's attitude. I consider Danny my friend. He is one of the good guys for sure. You take care of yourself, my friend.

It's no rumor.
