Yesterday, I searched SI's website using 'Danny Basavich' and came up with the article. However, I had to register and pay $4.95 to read it.

Does that mean that it's out in a current issue? Or only online? Thanks in advance, John.

Read the article. Wow great stuff. There is no better pool player that I like to see Hollywood do something with. This article captured him quite well.

Good luck Danny and create lots of opportuninty, cash too.

My opinion is that he is an incredibly unique character that stands out in the Billiard and entertainment world.

Well, it ain't out in D.C. yet! :( I am looking forward to reading it! :)

What are some of the highlights of the article?

I remember seeing the Writer/Photographer of Sports Illustrated Article at the Glass City Open [photo provided by Poolpics by Hoppe], held November of last year in Toledo. He was following Danny around like a shadow on the second day of the event, snapping all kinds of photos and writing notes, as Danny was doing his thing on a field of green. I was wondering then what kind of article this fellow would come up with.

One match, Danny was playing a Canadian named Jeff, while the SI writer was sitting tableside, and unfortunately for Jeff, Danny was in his slow mode of play. However, I found it one of the most magnificant displays of pool. Everybody else must have thought so, too, because the table was surrounded by curious onlookers. Steve McAnish, a local champion from Toledo, and his whole entourage remained after the conclusion of Steve's match to see the Kid Delicious in action. Several times, he actually took a running three steps before he fired the ball in. I have to admit, it was mesmerizing in an odd sort of way seeing the deliberateness of how he approached each and every shot.

Danny Basavich came in second place at the Glass City Open. Under the pressure of the 30-second shot clock, he shot quick as lightning, just about flawlessly, too. It sure did make for a really nice finish, good material for the SI writer/photographer's article! :)

Hey JAM. I had to go online and pay for it, $4.95. It was worth every penny. Very little was said about the tounament. It was a lot about his life and him. It was a really great article. For us that know Danny a little or very well, it was a great snapshot of his life. You know he really has the makings for a movie. Just his character is just so well described. I am very happy for him.

By the way I wish I could go to 1/4 of the tounaments you go to. I am a single dad of a nine year old so I'm unable to get away. Good stuff is that he loves to play pool. He misses most shots, makes some, great stable bridge and smooth stroke, very intense and just keeps practicing because he loves to. (Football is his #1 though.)

Does anyone know what issue it is in or is supposed to be in.

My understanding is that it is in the current issue that goes out to subscribers. I guess different content goes out in that one than goes out in the issue to newstands.

I'm definitely going to buy the magazine when it comes out in D.C. area. I'm anxious to get my hands on a copy. :p

For 9 years old, it's great that he's shown an interest in the game. That the two of you can enjoy it together makes it even better. The tournament trail can be a lot of fun, but there sure is no place like home (IMO)! :)

I am not sure if it will be posted in the normal hard copy form. After paying it seems I now have an SI subscription and Danny's article was found here -> SI Extra -- the subscriber only content section of SI.com.

Somebody at the CCB said they saw it in hard copy at the dentist office yesterday (The issue with the story of the Patriots win). I think I looked at that issue last week and it was not in there.

I have been to the bookstore 4 weeks in a row looking for it, every Tuesday, and I have yet to see it. I'm confused. I'll check it out again after work.

I do not know. I went back to SI's website today, and tried to figure out what I got for the $4.95, but just the one article was worth it, IMHO.

That can create a legal problem for AZBilliards.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the website administrator can be held responsible for the content of the forum.

It may be a moral issue, i.e., depriving the struggling writer of his commission from the $4.95 sale?

When it hits the stands, I guess we can read all about it. :p

The cat will be out of the bag soon enough! :)

I am not sure if this is going into hard copy. The $4.95 pays for SI Extra which is a special on-line magazine which subscribers get for free. I think that AZBilliards can write to SI and get approval to post iy on their site. It is a great article.
