Not Entirely True
Here is someone else saying that 9 ball is just to easy. This is simply not true, for it to be easy we would see sets being run out. When is the last time Scott or Rodney ran a set out playing in a tournament setting? They are both truly awesome players, but are you trying to tell me that 9 ball is so easy that Scott always gets perfect shape? That he puts 7-10 packs on his opponents constantly? He breaks and has a road map every time, never loses his cue ball or doesn't have a clear shot after the break? If the answer to any of these is no then please stop saying how easy 9 ball is. The pros no matter what the game make them all look easy, however looking easy and in fact being easy are two different matters all together.
Its too easy when an amateur like myself can break and run 4-5 racks in a race to 7. Rodney just ran a 5 or 6 pack on the live stream yesterday! Open table in 9 ball after they make a ball or two and they are out 9 out 10 times, I would call that too easy. haha

Many people liked it, a very interesting game with lots of knowledge involved.
Imho it will add lots more fun, because it's probably the least played game out of the bunch, and with the rules, it should bring up lots of interesting shots and attempts.

These are not gaff games. They are simply variations on existing games. A gaff implies some advantage to the one who knows the "trick" to success in the game and can exploit it.
For example I played a guy who said all I had to do was drive any ball to the end rail to win a game and he got all the breaks. But I thought the end rail was the bottom rail. He meant the top rail. So with him having all the breaks the few shots I could see gave me no chance to even bank a ball to the top rail. That was a gaff game.
Last pocket 8 ball is a skill game that requires pretty good planning to get into position. I have played that game a lot and a couple times for serious money.
When Jimmy Reid first came to Germany some gamblers tried to trap Jimmy with last pocket 8 ball thinking he wouldn't know the strategy and when he ran out five racks they quit.

If the doubters of these games tune in they will see how difficult and interesting the games are, lots of skill involved and strategy. I am just surprised that people can judge a game who have never seen or played them and also that they have never seen or played them. Guess I just have been lucky to have been exposed to them when I lived and played in NY.
Lenny we should base our opinions on facts when they are available. The fact is if you were lets say for example a 30% chance to break and run a rack of 9 ball every time you came to the table you would be as good as any pro in the world. This is a fact since the best in the world only break in run between 30-35 percent. Most of the time when a player is mentioned putting on a pack his opponent has in fact came to the table at some point during the run, just the pack runner has won the games. You mention having run 4-5 racks which is a great accomplishment, however how many times lifetime have you done it? The game of 9 ball is not broken but not favored by many there is a difference between the two. Most pros and amateurs true dislike of the game comes down to the luck factor the game presents, not the difficulty of the game. There are also pros who do not like the rack mechanics some are able to use therefore not liking it. Again having a 30 percent chance of running a rack does not make the game too easy. I greatly appreciate your streams and also enjoy your contributions to this forum just don't agree that's all. To further illustrate my point you could take any pro and I would bet each attempt $5,000 per attempt that they could not run 7 in a row. That is how non broken the game is.
Well either way you slice it these games will be much more interesting and challenging. Personally I am bored of watching 9 or 10 ball. Here is what Frost and Morris have to say just today. :smile:

Well everyone it was a great day of pool at Bull Shooters. Rodney Morris defeated Scott Frost yesterday in the last pocket 8 ball 15-10 and Scott got Rodney today in the back pocket 9 ball 21-16. Tomorrow it will be straight pool which was picked by the voters here at Bull Shooters. The race will be to 350 points.

The story of the Back-Pocket 9-Ball match was what happened when either player made the 8-ball but then failed to get out. There were 16 such games out of the 37 games in the match, i.e., 16 games where the player made the 8-ball but then missed the 9-ball or played safe on the 9-ball. And these 16 games were evenly split 8-8 in who made the 8-ball. But Frost won 15 of those 16 games. Morris was way outplayed in the "one-pocket" element of the games.
