BCA Las Vegas in May

Good advice Timberly. I remember one year I went back to my room after lunch. I had left my cue there and wanted to get it to go back to the tournament room. When I got to the room, the maid was cleaning. Her cart was kind of (though not completely) in front of the door, which was wide open. She was cleaning the bathroom. From the hallway I could see my cue lying on the bed. Seriously, anyone could have taken it (and anything else in the room).

It was only about 1 in 2 if the maid would ask me to insert my key in the door to verify that it was my room. I asked her if she could close the door while cleaning my room and she said they weren't allowed to do that.

Since then I learned to lock up ANYTHING valuable in the safe, and at the very least, keep the cues out of sight if the door were to be open.

Anyway, I'll be in Vegas from May 11-22. Singles, Scotch, and Team.

I have a story on locking the deadbolt knobby thingy. This happened about 10 years ago. I was staying in a hotel while I was on a Navy Reserve weekend. We always had to bunk with a roomate. I was in the room asleep but left the deadbolt/ knobby thingy undone so when the roomate arrived I wouldn't have to get up and let him in. I went to sleep preocupied by that thought.

That night I had weird dreams of a roomate coming in the room. Just standing there at the foot of the bed.

When I woke up in the morning I saw light coming from the bathroom. I knew I left that light off! When I got out of bed I found my Navy uniform on a hanger being used to prop the room door to the hallway open. I went to put my jeans on (that were at the side of the bed) they were gone! My wallet I had taken out that night and put it in my white hat. The theif found it and the $50 in it. I got the wallet/credit cards and the jeans back, they found them 20 minutes later in the stairwell. Those ving passcards arent foolproof and I believed it was an inside job by a balsy thief.

Lesson learned. The knobby thingy is my rule if you share a room with me.
You know...the deadbolt thing!

The Riviera was sold today to a group of investors so it will probably come down in the next 24-36 months. The Stardust, Tropicana and Imperial Palace are also being demolished to continue the "Manhattanization" of Las Vegas. Look for an announcement soon that Circus will also be leveled and replaced by an incredible project.
Rip~see ya' at the Riv in a few weeks!

Business
Riviera Holdings Corp. to be bought
Las Vegas hotel and casino operator Riviera Holdings Corp. today agreed to be bought by a group of private developers for about $211.5 million. The developers also will assume $215 million in Riviera debt. The developers, who formed Riv Acquisition Holdings Inc. to execute the purchase, will pay $17 a share, a premium of 13 percent to the stock's closing price on March 22, when the company first announced it was in talks with the group. At the time, the company had about 12.5 million shares outstanding.

Several years ago when we were there, we heard of alot of professional pickpocketers getting wallets from the back pockets of some of the players as well as other guests at the Riv. I'm sure it is still known to happen.

In my senseless rant of the day, I will state that anyone who keeps a wallet in a back pocket deserves to have the thing stolen.

:D

Hey Mark G! If this is true then my slot host was right as I told you!

Eydie ~ Who loves getting the scoop!

Eydie,

I will be looking forward to meeting you and Bob in Vegas.

Our booth will be right in between the Stealth and Sardo booth, about a couple booths next to Predator, and the food stand.

Good luck with the slot.:)

I'll be there with the OB-Cues team. PLEASE stop any of us and introduce yourself and ask where you can find Jon , Royce , or Don. I know alot of you have questions about the OB-1 shaft , this willl be a perfect opportunity for you to ask all the questions you want and to hit a few with one of our cues. If your not interested stop & introduce yourself anyway. I love to meet fellow players. Best of luck to everyone playing in the tournament & hope everyone has a very safe & enjoyable time.

Hi gabesmom,
I do not have to worry about them. They would not do that to me out of professional curtesy.:D

So if I understand correctly....does each room in the RIV contain a safe for valuables? This will be my first trip to Vegas and I can't wait....

I think that each room has one. In The Monte Carlo Tower where I stay they do BUT there is a charge to use the safe PER DAY. I would call the hotel regarding that. 702-734-5110

There ar safe deposit boxes at the fron deak that you can use as well. I don't know if there is a charge to use them.
