BCA PRO, Good matchups

So much for Basavich VS Wu, some other Asian Chia-Ching Kang guy gave Danny a trip to the long side in his first match (I feel like I should be saying I told ya so). Now Sutzer, Hunter and Kang are the only people in Wu's way for the next 2 matches, it looks like a decent draw all of the sudden with Williams and Basavich deciding to try out the B-side.

Wu beat Aaron Aragon 11-2, it looks like he is not feeling any sort of pressure playing in America, I was worried he may slip up due to the new environment and alternate break but now that he has got a match under his belt and pummled the guy I really think he should be watched close, if he is shooting that good noone is a good bet against him.

Hate to see the pummeling adjective.
Aaron Aragon is a good player and a class act.
Probably the best wheelchair player in the world, but at a disadvantage against
non handicapped players.

I totally agree. I've gotten to watch Aaron play twice before, and his presence always adds something to an event.

Heh, had no idea he was a wheelchair player. Wu it seems has no problem playing him with the same respect he would anyone else which I commend and I am sure Aaron appreciates.

He is in the pro event with non-wheelchair opponents and I dont see treating him different then I would treat any other player in the event to be a service to him. He got beat, badly and I have no problem saying so. If Strickland got beat 11-2 by Wu I doubt "pummled" would have gotten a comment, I dont really fall into the line where people try to be all PC all the while making it very obvious that they see someone else as "different" due to special treatment and a little more gentle critisism. Treat him just like any other player in the event would be treated, who cares if he is in a wheelchair or not, dont let that make you view and/or judge him differently based on his pool performance.

Just the way I see things, if I ever lose the use of my legs I hope to hell I am given the respect of anyone else in a pool tournament and if I get drilled by someone the last thing I want is people making my injury an excuse for my loss and poor performance. If I thought I was not capable of beating those people in that tournament despite my injury I would not be there to begin with.

Putnam lost hill hill to Manalo, Putnam got to the hill 1st and looked like going on to win, he had Manalo in a real tough hook on the 3 ball, Manalo Kicked 3 rails and slotted it into the side pocket and went on to run the rack. Putnam came up dry on the break and Manalo ran a solid rack to take the match.

Jeff Kennedy came out 11-6 winner over buttera
Chamat came back from 7-2 down to win 11-9
Steve Lilis brat takahashi 11-10
Bob Hunter beat paez 11-7
Wu beat Aragon 11-2
Saez beat Kawabata 11-6 he now goes onto play Manalo
santos beat r hybler 11-8
Troy Frank beat Breedlove 11-4
Jeff white beat Charles bryant 11-8

A logical, insightful, and, ultimately, sensitive post. Aragon has this very point of view, Celtic, and wants no accommodation or sympathy --- he justs wants to play pool and be treated like everyone else in the field. I think that's what I admire about him the most. I think you'd like him if you met him, and, based on your post, Celtic, I'm sure he'd really enjoy meeting you.

Tony,
Thanks a lot for keeping the ones that can not be in Vegas up-to-date. Being a Canadian, I really appreciate the results of the Canucks. The WPBA website has Erik Hjorleifson beating Chamat 11-9. I guess I was happy for Erik all for naught. Thanks again & best of luck in your match against Alaverez.

Alternate break is standard format in Asian 9ball Tour.

Thanks, Tony. This is some kind of field -- so many great players. The fans must be loving this!

I did not know that. Wu just got even stronger IMO to win this thing now.

As for Eric and Marcus, we need the official word. Did Marcus come back to win or did he lose? I would have to think the WPBA has the right score and winner as they must simply be reading it off the results sheets and such.

Sounds like a great match, but then again hill hill matches always are. I don't know Manalo, but I've seen Shawn play so I can imagine what a good match it was.

Marlon Manalo made a name for himself at the 2004 WPC by beating Yang, Bustamante and Reyes in succession in Stage 2 races to eleven, eliminating all three of them. An incredible feat, as these three (along with Chao) are possibly the best nineballers Asia has ever produced. Manalo ultimately tied for fith in the WPC.

In view of Shawn's recent form, this one loooked fairly close on paper, and sounds like it was just as close on the table.

Marlon is a topnotch Snooker player, who recently moved on to play pool for just a couple of years. He was not accepted at first as one of the boys, due to his snooker background. Before the 2004 WPC, he went to Dubai and practise really hard, then went to Taipei to get into the qualifiers a week before WPC. He then qualified, placed 5th and the rest is history. He is a tough one to beat. He is now a well regarded player in Philippines. A god fearing guy who doesn't smoke, drink, etc., etc. Not your normal pool player. He runs his own pool hall in the Philippines.

Wu Chia Ching is currently ranked 3rd in Asian 9Ball Tour and has placed 2nd on the first 2 tour stops this year. A tough 16yr old kid on the table. Just imagine this: Chao Fong Pang is the coach of Yang Ching Shun and Yang is the coach of Wu. You have 3 generations of the best players in Taiwans' history.

I just called Steve Tipton and there was some confusion to who won the match last night, But as far as he knows he said Chamat won

Anyone now when they play/what the results are for the Rob Saez V. Marlon Manalo match?

Marlon's match with Shawn was at 10 PM last night.... I'm guessing it'll be later this evening, possibly tomorrow before they play.
