If a player mis cues during the break and the cue ball does not cross the string is that a foul? I don't think so but welcome others comments

I would say no foul,i know that rules concerning the break in 1pocket has changed over the years, like how many balls have to touch a rail after the qball makes contact, including the qball,i will be honest with you i dont know what the real rules are concerning the break as of the day, maybe someone in the know will come on and tell us what the universal tournament rules are with the break!

I believe its a foul but not sure if your opponent gets to break them, he might have to shoot from where the cue ball sits.

I believe its a foul...any contact with the tip of the cue (with in a forward motion) is a foul, even behind the line. But I think the incoming player has a choice, shoot it where it lies, break himself or allow the original player to break....I think.

according to the rules at onepocket.org
its a foul and the opponent shoots from where the cue ball stops

2.2 The opening break begins with ball in hand behind the head string. On the break, the cue ball may contact either a cushion or any ball in the rack first, but in either case, after contacting at least one ball, an object ball must be pocketed, or the cue ball or at least one object ball must contact a rail, otherwise it is a one foul penalty. As long as a legal stroke is employed from behind the head string on the break, the incoming player must play the balls where they lie – there are no re-racks for a pocket scratch or failure to contact a cushion or pocket a ball on the break

heres alink to all the rules

World Standardized Rules. The BCA only publishes a copy of the WSR.
The BCAPL (Pool League) has it's own set of rules for One Pocket, but mostly follow the WSR.

IMO the One Pocket.org rules are the best set of rules for one pocket.

The game begins with ball in hand behind the headstring.
You must hit a ball (lowest numbered ball in a rotation game) and drive at least one ball to a rail (cue ball can be the one ball) unless game specific rules state you must drive more than one ball (not counting the cue ball)

Otherwise it is a foul. Incoming player either plays the cue ball where it lies or gets ball in hand, according to the game being played specific rules.

In one pocket it is a foul and incoming player plays the cue ball in position.

If a player mis cues during the break and the cue ball does not cross the string is that a foul? I don't think so but welcome others comments
