I was asking a question in the Ask the Mechanic section about table specs and this link was provided.

I recently started playing in a BCA league and found the rules interesting.

As far as the equipment in league play I don't think any bar has a table to those specs since most bars have BB Valleys.

Also found the part about ear plugs interesting. There are times when playing in certain bars I will wear ear plugs because the music is too loud.

The other is any other ear piece and cell phone use. I guess I can call a foul the next time my opponent stops to answer their phone. The loop hole is emergency communication. How would they know if it was or was not an emergency until they answer the phone?

Are these rules meant for regular league or just for the tournaments?
 
Official BCAPL response

BCAPL Rule 9.9 gives Administrative Authorities the power to modify rules as necessary. It is very common for local league administrations to make modifications.

Even at the BCAPL Nationals this year there will be modifications in Rule 1.3.2, which regulates personal electronics and hearing impediments. Specifically, the first violation during a match will result in a warning instead of a foul. Second and subsequent violations will be a foul.

The complete Tournament Regulations will be posted on the BCAPL website within a couple of weeks.

* Since 2004, there is no such thing as a "BCA Referee". The BCA no longer has any program to train, certify or sanction billiards referees or officials.
* The BCAPL has no association with the Billiard Congress of America other than in their capacity as a member of the BCA.
* The BCAPL has not addressed every imaginable rules issue, nor will it ever likely be able to, as evidenced by the seemingly endless situations that people dream up or that (more frequently) actually happen. If I do not have the answer to a question I will tell you so, then I will get a ruling from the BCAPL National Office and get back to you as soon as I can. If deemed necessary, the BCAPL will then add the ruling to the "Applied Rulings" section of The Official Rules of the BCA Pool League.

Thanks for the answer. See that you are the person that should know.
 
I am curious as to why a person wouldn't be allowed to wear earplugs while playing? I'm talking about the soft "roll-up" kind like I used to wear at General Motors to cut down on high decibel noises. I keep some in my bag for the times when the jukebox is turned up WAY to loud.
