BCN's DCC Coverage

The first airing of the DCC by the Billiard Club Network a few years ago for a mere $9.95 was an unqualified success. Subsequent airings have had their flaws. Prices for viewing the DCC have varied from the original $9.95 to a top price of $49.95. This years DCC was an acceptable $29.95. The first two days coverage was top notch. Both Friday and Saturday night’s bank pool ring games allowed for superior viewing. The problems, this time, started yesterday with an outage that has yet to be rectified.

I am sure BCN is doing everything in their power to reconnect all of their subscribers. I was wondering how many of you guys are still without DCC coverage?

Been checking every 5 minutes but still cannot connect. It is such a pity though because the 9-ball banks FINALS is about to start at 9 pm tonight. Only 3 players left, Efren (who is still undefeated) and Luat and Stevie Moore with 1 loss each. Also, there is going to be a 10ball ring game starting at midnigh between Deuel, Archer, Bustamante, Parica and Orcullo. Hope BCN will tape this and broadcast both events tomorrow for those who subscribed.

still dont have it. if I didn't get any more coverage I would say I got my 30 bucks worth. I didnt even watch all that was available but thought it was great. I was busy yesterday and didnt get to watch anyway. ready to watch some more and it is disappointing but stuff happens. Hopefully the waiting is almost over. the best is yet to come with the one hole and the nineball. loved seeing the money matches and the world class ring games.

cmon bcn lets go I am ready for the start.

They said it would be back late afternoon or at the latest early evening. It is only 30 minutes before the 9 balls banks finals. I am fast losing hope.

I just received this email from them.

Dear Derby City Classic Viewer,

Time 8:00 PM, 1/8/07

Due to our system being in emergency repair, we are unable to broadcast at this time. We are very sorry for your frustration and aggrevation, and we want nothing more than to fix this problem and get on with the remainder of the tournament, trouble free.

Once resolved, we are determined to broadcast 24 hours each day through the end of the tournament. All matches missed and other matches will be rebroacast in their entirity for you.

What is the issue? The mother board on our broadcast computer needed replacement. We accomplished this by late this afternoon. However, we are now having difficulity accessing the server with the new system, and the repair service we used is now closed for the day.

What are we doing now, to fix the system? We are now purchasing a new system and it's necessary components in order to get the live broadcast back on track ASAP. Unfortunately, this may take until Tuesday morning.

Once again all matches in Chalk-Off arena will be replayed throughout the tournament week.

Please stay tuned to BCn for any updates.

Most Sincerely

BCn

I don't feel I have received anywhere near my $30.

Wondering who in the world is working on their servers. They say they have to shut them down a few times a day.

so that means no broadcast for tonight. I wonder if they will be showing the midnightg ring games too.

I have watched a total of 6-7 hours the 1st 2 days. saw efren play, watched cory nut up and play the world in the ring game when no other big time americans would put up. for the price of a great meal I watched a ton of pool. priceless

I agree 100% it has been worth it already.

I work in the world where equipment and servers break at the worst times. So I feel these guys pain. Nobody on here wants it up more than the guy on the other end, I promise you that!

Tim.

that is very true

Guys to me the value is there. I have enjoyed alot of pool and not spend a dime on gas, hotel or entry fees. The BCN has communicated that a problem exist and his being repaired ASAP. We have alot of pool to view. They further explained that they plan to rebroadcast missed programing. Sounds to me like a business being responsive to its customers.

Look forward to many more events broadcast via internet. I appreciate their efforts.

If you work in that field then you know the most important word BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP

Have another machine ready to go in case one goes down. We have 2 backup's ready for any problem, and they are constantly tested to make sure if something happens they are good to go.

I was questioning all the server reboots that happen everyday.

I also want to say that the coverage has already been worth the money, but still it really is frustrating to clear my schedule, sit down with a bowl of popcorn, and see a blank screen.

When it's working, it is like being ringside. Probably better than being there because of the overhead camera angle making it easier to see the shots. I've already seen great stuff from Corey Deuel, Shannon Daulton, and Denis Orcullo. They have definitely given me $30 worth of entertainment.

I wish BCN would leave the camera on the table (the WHOLE table) between advertized events and let other people play. I really enjoyed seeing the young Landon Shuffett, for example, messing around a few years ago. And, as someone mentioned before, it's just nice to hear the sound of pool balls banging around while you're doing something else on the computer.

$$$ For Replays???

The price is reasonable,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for live coverage. When you enter into a contract, 9 days, live coverage, for $29.95, You should get 9 full days. I might even agree that 7 days of live coverage for the same $$$ is a value but it is not the contract we entered into.

True. I think there should be a pro-rated refund or credit for the large block of time that it was down. I know our cable company will do that if you are denied service for technical reasons for more than a day. It isn't a lot of $ but it is the right thing to do. In this case two days missed would be a credit of about $6.65.

I don't feel I have nearly gotten my money's worth, yet.

This is a ridiculous amount of time to have been caused by one link in the chain.
A motherboard replacement isn't brain surgery.

Man the whining never ends!

The live feed is back up. Nothing happening at this moment.

Well...............Once again, I am not getting any video.
Anybody know what's going on?
