Beautiful Dale Perry cues on Ebay...

I failed to see what is so special about this offering vs. new cues he sells on eBay every week

I truly understand why he & Bob Meucci are so
maligned on here BUT I have 3 of his cues. I'm
just so so on his Speedster but the other 2 hit
as nice as anything that I have and look nice.
He wasn't selling enough cues at $1600 to make
any money so he come up with a new plan. I seriously
doubt that you can find other cues at $350-$500
that look or hit like his. Plus fast delivery, 2 shafts,
joint protectors and his shafts are dead straight
which I haven't seen on some other more praised
cuemakers on here. Just my honest opinion.

I have no issues with your statement.

But my point is that Dale Perry lists cues every week on eBay and can't figure out what's special about this listing. I think I'm missing something.

Dale does make some nice cues. Although I think he really pissed quite a few folks off when he started selling them on ebay. I purchased three of his cues to sell at a show. Before he started selling them on ebay. Had I known this, I wouldn't have bought them. Honestly I don't see anything that special about these cues anymore. I'm not griping due to the money side, because I didn't loose money on them. Didn't make any either. Heard a bunch from folks saying they saw great deals on ebay, and wondered just why the cues were being unloaded on there. Just that for a guy who has such great talents unloading cues on ebay doesn't make sense to me. If ebay went tits up next week then what. Just my two cents worth.

Bwahahahahahahaha...

But seriously folks...

1) Jazz is right, even if they are one of a kinds, every week there are more to take their place, so his question is still valid.

2) Saying "if ebay went tits up next week then what" is like asking "What if tomorrow the sky wasn't blue?". It could happen, but highly unlikely, considering they are one of the few dot com success stories. Besides, another auction business would take their place.

I might consider buying a DP cue but it'd have to really jump out at me, and I'd have to win it at a low auction price. Some of them do look very nice :)

I have been looking at them also.
How do you guys like the stock shaft?
I see he has a radial shaft for a extra $100. at the time of purchass.
Maybe Santa will be good to me!

I can't believe how anyone would carry/ deal his cues when he is obviously undercutting them on Ebay on a weekly basis. Guess he wants to keep all of the money himself, maybe he will buy a nice puppy to keep him company.

So nobody can say a bad thing about the cues themselves but everyone is upset that he sells them direct and too cheap? Why?

He must be doing something to save time relative to, say, a cuemaker who makes only 200 cues a year (whatever that is, it seems like it has to be more than just CNC). But that seems to be offset by his low prices -- in part becuase of whatever makes his costs low, and in part because of the large supply he puts on the market.

Overall, while it's not really something I would buy, it still seems like a reasonably good deal: $300-$500 gets you a lot of inlay work, cues that I've never heard anyone say warp or have points lift, 2 shafts, and a design that no one else will have. I've hit with a friend's, and it seemed fine.

As far as his selling on Ebay, why not? He can sell through distributors and they'll want to make 20% or more on each cue. Or he can pay 2-2.5% via Ebay and split the 18% savings between himself and his customer.

Because several people paid $1600 a few years ago
before he started doing this and several dealers
ended up with cues they couldn't sell. I paid $700
for my 1st one and could have gotten something
similar a few months later for $400. I still ended up
getting 2 more including a Speedster for $250.
My guess is he wasn't getting enough high end
orders to survive and decided to make some real
money.
