Beeler's Virtual Billiard Academy - Pool Lessons

Mr Beeler is obviously very good at tooting his own horn. That is gonna turn a lot of people off, including me to be honest. A quick scan down the list shows at least a half-dozen instructors I would go to first simply because I think they are all solid instructors and I think we would relate to each other better. Also, a scan down the list of instructors and their scores indicates the problem with most such polls, they are more of a popularity contest. A popularity contest only voted on by a small group in this case.

High up on his list of accomplishments is giving the national champion of Aruba some training. I don't really trust such claims, I have given training to many many people, as in showed them one shot. I suppose I could list I trained these people. Then I took a look at the population of Aruba. 120,000. That is more than a town, not much more than a medium sized city though.

Before judging Mr Beeler fairly I would have to wade through a lot of puffery generated by himself. On the other hand I just had a thought, suppose we have the exact same poll right here on AZB? Add a few names of our instructors and those known to us? Without being ugly I will bet yankee dollars that he can't break top five without cooking the books. Randy is a widely known top instructor. Some others that polled poorly are the instructors that instructors bow to. Jerry Briesath is legend among pool instructors.

Mr Beeler has found a niche in pool and is making it work for him. Hard to fault him for that. As for his claims, well, you should have seen my resume in the nineties after years of honing and fine tuning. It was all true but changing a word anywhere was likely to make it a lie!

Perhaps the the issue is many of the other instructors are jealous and don't have a horn to toot. Most instructors don't work with pros like Beeler and Shuffett. And perhaps most can't play at a high level like Mr. Shuffett and Mr. Beeler. I sense jealousy. Seems that's the real issue at hand here. Could sense that right off.

I don't know what Anthony plays or his preference, but Stan can and does play everything and all of it at a high level. Rotation games, 14.1, banks, one pocket, all of them. But gets castrated here and only here and it's allowed.

Or maybe the thing about “instructor of the decade” was just a wee too much for most of us to swallow, lol.

It's not only Stan that gets barbecued. Many others that promote any kind of aiming system do also.

Not necessarily. A couple of them have made nice and buttered up the forum omniscient ones and not only have free reign to post whatever they want but also get endorsed as having a great system.

Yup, a man that has been teaching a decade being the teacher of the decade did indeed raise red flags. I still consider that claim a bit dubious. I don't doubt it is true, but by whose standard? I could be player of the century according to a small group. In fairness, instructor of the decade might have been inspired by the instructor of the year award another group gives out. Their instructor of the year seems to be rotated with nobody winning it twice! I can't help wondering if it is a promotional gimmick.

Wonder if I can make a buck creating an association and awarding people titles. "I am the intergalaxy tri-universal champion of all time" has a nice ring to it. I'll give my association a nice name and then start printing out certificates! I can also give out champion of the week certificates and not specify the time frame on the certificate. I went to a new dermatologist. He had a wall full of educational certificates, the largest and most impressive from Yale. Pretty impressive for a small town doctor so I ambled over to the wall to check out the huge two feet by two feet certificate. He indeed graduated from Yale, a four hour liposuction class! I had to give him beanies though, a lot of people would never read the certificate.

Perhaps posters who come out of the woodwork to defend a questionable claim might also have an agenda.
When I see this and don't recognize the name my next step is to look at their posting history.
Yours for instance is rather interesting.
Have to wonder where you've been for the last 10 years and what prompted you to pop up on this particular thread.

Actually, the same can be said about you. You joined coming up on 11 years ago. You have 552 posts. That's an average of around 48- 50 posts a year...4 posts a month...1 per week.
So, what's to be made from that? Honestly, who cares?
I think what he said makes good sense.

Give him a call. He will be glad to talk to you. Ask him directly.

It's about motive, did you look at the history. Probably not.
Anyway, one a week is just a bit different than a total of 5 in the last 10 years and none in the past 5 years until this thread.
Coincidence? I doubt it.

What I read into his post was his opinion and fact. Did he kill or shoot someone where a motive is required to arrest him and go to trial? Are there new forum rules on what you can or can't post with requirements to show cause for the statements?

What is your motive for jumping on his post?
