Before installing a Moori tip

Before you put on a Moori tip does anyone do anything special to it? For example put it in a vice or let it still in a substance so later it won't mushroom as easily.
The last couple Moori tips have mushroomed on me days after I put them on wonder if it happens to anyone else and how to stop it.

One of the theories behind layered tips is that they are more consistent and don't mushroom as much (or at all) as "regular" tips. My customers have never mentioned problems with their Moori's mushrooming and I've been playing with a Wizard medium for about 6 weeks without any mushrooming.

The only thing I do when installing any tip is sand the back and "prime" it with super-thin crazy glue. After it dries, I scuff the back with sandpaper and install the tip with gel crazy glue. The "priming" of the tip seals the back so the tip doesn't absorb the gel crazy glue, thus leaving a nice fine film between the tip and ferrule. I've been doing this for a few years with great success. I only press "regular" tips (LePro, Triangle, etc.) in a vice prior to installation, but don't do so with any layered tips.

Moori Tips

This is strange to hear about Moori tips mushrooming. I've installed them and used Moori tips for years and i've never had any mushrooming issues.

I've seen Moori tips mushroom many times, especially if the person breakes with them. They usually do it right away, just retrim. They usually won't mushroom again after that. The vice will probably help, just don't use a lot of pressure.

Burnish the hell out of the sides and apply a little wax for a good shine and you should be good to go. BUT if you are putting them on by hand you will more than likely always have a problem here and there.

Moori Tip Installation

Yes they seem to mushroom a lot after the first week or so then maybe a month later a little bit. Maybe it's just the couple tips I got. I got the hard ones.
I was thinking of putting them in a vice or hitting them with a hammer before giving them to someone to install next time.

Hmm. I've been playing with a Moori medium and have not had a problem with mushrooming at all.
