I have been thinking of this style lately. I've always loved the old Harvey Martin style plain janes, the Tad Kohara's, and the Southwest "satin" cues. I'd like to see a thread dedicated to simple, but elegantly understated Birdseye Maple forearm cues.

Here are a few examples from two Northern California makers who were relatively under the radar as builders.

I have a Schon R1 and a Ned Morris that I will include pictures of tonight. Please show what you have!

Love Maple pj cues

Heres a SW I used to have

My first BHQ pj with ivory ferrells, joint and butt cap and my current player,a WW cue

One photo of them all together

Southwest Plain Jane

Used to own this '83 SW Plain Jane. It was a heck of a player with everything straight in excellent condition considering it's age...one of the greatest regret i have was selling it..

White letter 1985 Joss BEM MW. I custom ordered the cue in '85 and still own it. It is my travelling cue. In original condition except for the linen and tips. The butt and shafts remain straight.

Barry Szamboti
this is the cue that Rodney Morris used as his break cue to win the 1996 US Open, I have letters from both Barry and Rodney attesting to this

Yep, it's all fun and games until somebody shows up with THAT SEARING. :D

Placeholder.....will contribute a little later.

Thanks for the sweet contributions guys... Art, those are nice, i don't normally dig ostrich wraps, but it really works well on your cue. The SW is a classic of course, and man, Double Dave's Byrne is outstanding. Click that link if you haven't!!
