An impressive turnout to an impressive tournament

Great times, great turnout, great support, what else can you say about a tournament that went so smooth and quickly?
Great job on having such a successful event, and it was great to see how many of the AZ family was in attendance!
Looking forward to more tourneys and seeing all of you again!
Even though Captain K was running full bore with all the cue work, he still found time to give me a hand as well- Thanks Kennan~!
Tony, it was impressive to see the support in attendance, and after meeting you it's understandable-

All in all, PapaRed and UgotActionTX kept things flowing smoothly and quickly and were on top of everything all the time-I'm impressed, and hope to get back up there to play again soon-

A well earned THANKS guys!

Kudos for the Tony Tourney,I'm still overwhelmed...:grin-square:

(And I have pictures of two players, who shall remain nameless:wink: from their sorta rematch. Good game guys!)

The Day After

TOTALLY AWESOME, the turn out was great. I just wish that the people that keep giving our beloved game all the bad reps could see the great family we have. I had such a fun time seeing people that I only get too see about every six months or longer.

Thanks to all the player that made the tournament run smooth and quickly.

Glad to meet Cuephoric, he drove in from Wichita Falls, I think. It started off bad for Shane because he had a flat and need too get a tire fixed.

I know Tony was over whelmed with the turn out.

Congratulation to Gordie for winning the tournament, he played great and is a great guy, teammate, and friend.

THANKS EVERYONE!
Charlie

Congrats to Gordie and all of the players for coming out and supporting a great cause...

I was stunned by the amuunt of local players and well-wishers that attended...

Side-note to Zach - We're going to have to do that again... :) Great match...

This event turned out to be such a great day with friends!!! I'm so glad to see how much support Tony had during this event. Not to mention seeing him run tables on the challenge table. LOL.

A big congrats to Gordy for winning the tournament. I tried to get there with him in the top 2 spots, but just fell a bit short.

Papa Red....be sure to thank Mama Red for the great food. And let me know what time I need to be at your house for dinner. :D

Just come by anytime!

I guess everyone made it home OK.

Totally my fault...

Hey Randy,

I COMPLETELY forgot to make a sheet for the Pool School. In the chaos that ensued while putting this thing together and getting it going, there were a couple of donations that I missed(forgot) :( we were OVERWHELMED ( in a good way ) with items that were donated. So many in fact that we had to go pick up 2 more 8 ft folding tables just to hold it all. Not mentioning the 5 tables we already brought over.

The day of Pool School and a Hybrid Jump Cue were two things that I simply overlooked. Perhaps we can offer them for sale here to the highest bidder? Thanks for your generosity, sorry I overlooked it.

Hey John, I didn't see my donation listed. Oh well, next time....SPF=randyg

Benefit for Tony Sular: Thanks to everyone !!!

hey everyone,

Just wanted to say a BIG "thank you" to everyone that helped make yesterday's benefit such a huge success. We had players come from all over, to support our good friend Tony with there donations and well wishes. It was nice to see some folks that we haven't seen for a while, and it reminds us all that life is short, and we should enjoy the time we, as like minded pool nuts, get to spend together.

With 71 paid entries, we had to shorten the races in order to get it all done in a timely manner. The whole event went smoothly thanks to good attitudes and plenty of patience and understanding.

In total, between $7500 and $8000 was(has been) raised to help Tony, with nearly 7k raised yesterday alone.

Special thanks to the following folks for helping me directly. Without there help we couldn't have done it...

Ann Malone aka ScarletTrout (for taking care of (putting up with)Tony :D )
Charlie Smitth (Papa Red) for managing the Brackets perfectly!
Nancy Smith for preparing all the food
Robbie Smith, he and Charlie kept he matches running smoothly
Bill Wagner for helping spread the word /obtaining items/ general pack mule :D
Doug Winnett (bullshooter69) for not beating me
Kennen Keffer (Captain K) Good Guy and great tip man
Mike Embry and Linda Lujan for running the Break Contest
Tammy Helms for helping with the raffles and silent auction
Trinity Baptist Church (Tables and sound system)
Doug and Heather Walls Owners of Luke's Sports Bar

EVERYONE that donated money or items! Without you, we couldn't have done it. We had a great bunch of people turn out. I'm reluctant to start thanking people by name for the items and cash donations(some were large), for the fear of forgetting someone. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE and WE APPRECIATE YOUR GENEROSITY. I know I speak for Tony and Ann when I say thanks, it's great to see the way pool players can come together and take care of each other.

Ya'll did an awesome job getting the word out having such a wonderful event, 71 players and able to get it over in one day, fantastic and smooth.
Congrats to Gordy on the win and super thankyous to all involved.
It was great to see the billiard community pull together to help out another player in need, wow another 500-1000 :cool:added to the 7 grand made Saturday, cannot say enough. Even met whole famliesand kids and all there in support of Tony.

Just awesome, thanks
Kennan

I just posted this over in the main forum, but I wanted to copy it over here for all that are following this thread, in case ya'll miss it.

Tony and I would like to publicly, and loudly, thank everyone for coming to the benefit tournament for him this past weekend.

Words can not express how we feel at this time. We are both humbled and overwhelmed at the outpouring of love and support we have received during this fight. Not only at the tournament, but also the phone calls, the visits at the hospital, cards or just sending well wishes through another friend or two... this pool community has touched our hearts beyond anything we could have imagined.

There is such a long list of people to thank, we don't know where to begin. I know if I tried to thank everyone individually, someone will end up being left out. John and Kennan have done a good job of listing just a fraction, so we ditto who they have thanked so far.

We would like to thank John Plumlee (ugotactionTX) for everything he's done for us. You've been amazing and I can not express properly our gratitude.

Bill Wagner, I owe you many more pecan pies!

Doug Winnett (bullshooter69), for always being there for Tony and being a better friend to him than anyone can know.

Jerri Winnett, for being my rock when I've been crumbling.

Robbie, Charlie (Papa Red), and Nancy... ya'll are AMAZING! Good Lord, Nancy must have been cooking for over a WEEK to feed everyone like she did. (Didn't I say yumminess before?)

Everyone who helped at the tournament... Kennan (Captain K), how much wonderfull-ness you are. :) So many others helped. OH! Lanore Molsbey (I know I just butchered the spelling of her name) and Tammy Helms! Dana Speed, smoochies to you...

Cristina De La Garza, your generousity is so heart-warming, I pray I have been able to teach my children to give like that. What an amazing example to show them. You too, Mr. Jay Helfert!!

Melinda Bailey (akaTrigger)... not even gonna try to put your thanks into words. I think only huge, squishy bear-hugs, with lots of tears, will express our feelings towards you... I'll see you this weekend!

I could go on and on, but that would take us 2 to 3 days to thank everyone that deserves it. Just to see so many people in one place, for Tony, is unbelievable. I have always known I won the lottery with him, I'm glad everyone had a way to show him that his friendship and big heart makes everyone else feel the same way. I know I can speak for him when I say that he feels HE is the one who won the lottery with so many friends and loved ones. You are all the best.

You guys make me proud to be a pool player. You guy have done yourselves and Tony proud. Im sorry I couldnt be there. But it looks like he was in good hands.

Big Frank
