Bent Cue - Level Cue Question

So during the DCC we see a cue playing with a cue he made that has a deliberately bent butt, such that the bottom of the butt is elevated. Hopefully you can see it in the attached photo. I think PT109 may have got a better picture.

By the way, the guy can play.

Anyway, this made me think about the common wisdom that you cannot hit the CB with a perfectly level cue, certainly on draw shots, because your knuckles require you to elevate the butt. Which of course leads to swerve on any shot with English.

This cue could presumably reduce or eliminate this factor.

It can't eliminate it. The rail is higher than center ball.

Any rules about what a "pool cue" must adhere to? If Happy Gilmore signed up for league night and came to play using a hockey stick, could he? Of course no pool hall owner in his right mind would let him but are their any rules against using a bass ball bat, golf club or hockey stick?

Yeah, stuff is real heavy. Guy said it was hollowed out on the inside to control the weight. Seemed to move the ball pretty good. Everybody's got their something.

Any rules about what a "pool cue" must adhere to?

WPA's only rules are:

Length of Cue: 40 inches [1.016 m] minimum / No Maximum
Weight of Cue: No minimum / 25 oz. [708.75 gm] maximum
Width of Tip: No minimum / 14mm maximum

The cue tip may not be of a material that can scratch or damage the addressed ball. The cue tip on any stick must be composed of a piece of specially processed leather or other fibrous or pliable material that extends the natural line of the shaft end of the cue and contacts the cue ball when the shot is executed..

The ferrule of the cue stick, if of a metal material, may not be more than 1 inch [2.54 cm] in length.
