First of all, you people are taking the picture too seriously. It's meant as a tongue-in-cheek observation that people arguing on the internet might have less mental faculties than disadvantaged athletes.
Second, I have actually worked the Special Olympics as a soldier, handing out military rank insignia for the athletes. I even went to the PX to buy a full bird Colonel rank (at $10.00 a pop out of my own wallet) for one athlete who wanted to collect one of every rank.
How many of you have worked the Special Olympics?
Third, I say again, you are looking for something to get offended by. If that is the case, go watch Carlos Mencia. He offends everyone, regardless of race, creed, or mental abilities. People love him for that. Get over yourselves.
Fourth, NO. I will not remove the photo. The Administrator can, if they want. If he does, I'll soon have a list of avatars that I find deeply offensive. Oh wait.. You guys never thought some people's avatars might be offensive too, huh?
The guy with a pic of Mohummad Ali standing over Trudeau could be offending others both by violence, and by the fact that Mohammad Ali is barely able to communicate with others in public, and a pic of him in his prime might be seen as a jab.
The guy with the half nekkid chick on a pool table. He might be offending some of our more religious posters.
Linda (I love ya Linda!) might be offending people with a male pumpkin man showing his a55.

Well, let's go there, dude. My sister has what is known as a "cleft palate". You might know it by it's "normal" name. Hare lip. She was born with her nasal cavity connected with her upper mouth, and her top lip was split where the connection was.
It took her four surgeries to look normal, and if you didn't know what the problem was, you'd think something looked "wrong" with her mouth.
People are going to look. They might stare. It happens. Get over it. Get over yourself. We all have our small flaws. Mine happen to be on the inside, hers happens to be on the outside. I can make fun of my own faults. She has learned to adapt to her flaws. She doesn't let it bother her.
She also doesn't need someone like you saying what someone should, or should not say about her. You'd have us all cookie cutter copies of each other, with no variation.
It might be an argument, and the other poster was right about that, but here's my last say on the matter: It's freedom of speech until the moderator decides to remove it. That picture has been around internet forums...since there were internet forums. Deal with it. If the moderator wants to remove it, fine. That's their choice. It wouldn't be any different than the other censorship that's been happening lately.
Let's just make sure we leave up that half naked avatar with Jessica Alba, right? RIGHT?

People can choose what comic they listen to... a foul comic is not "forced" upon anyone. People choose to come here for pool related info. The argument about avatars has already happened... there's an option people have to turn them off in the their user settings. Most that visit AZ while at work turn them off because while we might not be offended, they're not appropriate for work.
It's not my job to tell people what they should & shouldn't be offended by, but I do make a conscious effort to think things through before I post them. Someone I know was recently diagnosed with a health issue...when that came up, I opted to not say "medical reasons" and instead said "personal reasons"... it's simply compassion... people either have it or they don't. Those of us that do have it, choose to put forth the very, very small effort it takes to stop for one second and THINK about someone else before we act.
Yes, that pic has been posted before and yes the admin removed it. There are people on this forum that have children & family that have some form of mental retardation and they know first hand that it's not comical.
If people find this pic and they find it amusing (everyone has a different sense of humor) then they should relegate sharing it....send it in an email to your buddies that have the same sense of humor you do but don't subject thousands of unknown people to something like this... you're bound to offend someone. That's just common sense and common decency.
