Bert Kinnister DVD's

I dont agree that the tapes are bad in content. If you have a table and use the drills as he has them, your game will improve. I started with the 9 pointed star and my game improved tons. I had no help or teacher or any lessons other than berts tapes. THe tapes do get repetetive through each lesson but he shows what happens to a student as he is learning as shows the mistake you will encounter.

Maybe the quality of the new dvds arent up to par. But the drills and knowledge i leaned from them are way more than anyone was willig to share with me.

Just my thoughts.

PAt

Yeah - from what I've managed to see from them, the content is good. I was tipped onto them years back. Thats why I bought a batch.

Interesting though that people have had issues with other brands of tutorial dvd's too.

I had problems with the DVDs. I have around 20 of them and almost all of them were as you discribed. Some will play in old DVD players and some will not. I have a computer that will play them so I converted them to the movie format for my iPOD. Now I can watch them on my iPOD.

Thats interesting - I have tried that and I can't even find any tracks on the disks when I tried to rip them.

What progs did you use to rip them ?

I have purchased many DVD's and tapes from Bert. All of the tapes worked great and about 1/2 of the DVD's skip or hang - I called Bert and he quickly replaced the messed up DVD's (some of the new ones worked and some didn't). I purchased more and they did the same thing - got tired of sounds like a complainer - so I just stopped buying them.

As far a quality of material - the first 15-20 volumes are great material and the further you go into the video series the less there is worth watching IMO. Video #1, 6 pointed star, speed and angles (#27 or 28 I think), mighty X, and its a hanger are well worth the money!
Anybody seen the new video 75-80 or got them for sale. I am not going to spend $30 a pop on them and have them skip - I would like to see the info though - pm me if you want to make a deal!

nathan...I record all of my private lessons onto dvds (I carry my own dvd recorder with me), and I haven't experienced anywhere near a 4% error rate...maybe 1% (out of hundreds of discs every year), but I don't even think it is that high. What's depressing is that when there is an error, I can't do anything about fixing the disc, on the spot. I've asked tech people if there is a difference between brands of recordable dvds, as far as quality, and been told, basically no. I know that when there is a recording error, it is always at the end of the disc...so the information is on that disc somewhere. Do you know if that data can be recovered, and re-recorded to another disc?

This problem is usually the result of burning the discs (on a computer) rather than having them pressed from a glass master at a factory. Error rate is about 4% in burnt disks, while its 0.2% or something for pressed discs. People only tend to burn discs if they sell a very small number, while pressed discs are ideal for large volumes.

I have burned a lot of dvd's, and I can tell you that there is a difference with the brand as far as effectiveness (I can't tell with quality). The quality of the drive can also make a difference. Out of the brands I have tried, sony dvd + R seem to have the highest success rate. I wouldn't get a really cheap kind. Unfortunately, I don't think the data can be recovered and re-recorded.

yup... duplication vs. replication. Replication is so cheap I wonder why anyone would try burning.

The initial cost of making the glass master makes it expensive for small orders. It only pays off when ordering in large volumes.

I don't know what the problem is. I have Mika's DVD's and they are very good but they also stick in a few places. Bought John's 400 run and had problems with it. A freind tried it on his player and it didn't work at all. Tried different players and some work better than others.

TheBook: You were one of the first people to order my DVDs (thanks for that). The first batch of 100 were duplicated, which is why a few skipped in places. After that initial batch, I had a glass master manufactured and have been selling pressed replicated discs ever since. PM if you want a replacement DVD and I'll mail it free of charge.

bumpin this topic back up into life...

I have come across this burn issue with one of the dvds i have received. I have tested it in many players, mostly worked on my pc but skipped...

So... I tried different video players on my pc

Windows Media Player - Didn't run well, skipped then stopped...

Quick Time - Nope nothing. I know it's not the same format but tried anyway.

Nero Showtime - It failed quarter way through.

VLC - It actually ran all the way through.

Now i don't know if this will work for everyone but it worked for me... You could also try exploring the files and then converting them to a different format.

and if you want to burn the videos on dvd, then get Verbatim dvds. Those are high quality and have an excellent success rate. Those are also dvds used to burn back up copies of Video games, Movies, Software, and so on...

Hi All,

Just wanted to get some feedback from the forum...

Some years ago I bought a whole load of Bert Kinnisters tutorial DVD's, and have had problems with them. All of them.

They will all stick and pause at various and different points when I play them. I've tried different dvd players, pc's, apple macs and have the same result.

I called Bert about this and he said that this is the first he has heard of this issue and even volunteered to send me over a cheap DVD player (which although I didn't take him up on it, I think is an amazing offer to help a customer out).

I don't want to slate Berts products in any way; but I'm just curious if I'm the only one to have these problems.

Thanks All.

I ordered some DVDs from Seyberts several years ago. They didn't play, or were broken somehow, don't remember exactly anymore. I called Bert and he sent new ones out that did work.
