BEST 7 FOOT TABLE FOR HOME USE

Really?

Not being a smartass. If that is true then I am genuinely surprised.

I pulled that number out of the air. If a new one cost $6,500 I figured a used one should come at a discount.

While a Diamond might be ideal, they are hard to find and expensive. I got a valley for much cheaper 10 years ago and it plays great. I had them put 4 inch pockets in and just got the cloth redone. I have not regretted the decision at all

I think any reasonable table, if set up properly, can play well. Some may be more durable, or less work to get playing properly, but I think the installation is as important as the table.

So I gather he did not actually want informed opinions on the matter.
IMO, buying a low level table like the one your fried chose at new price is a mistake.
Most off-label tables for the home can be found <$500 on the used market.
Hope he likes it.

The "new" Imperial table being purchased is ridiculously cheap for a reason. The buyer could have gotten a much better used table, with setup and new cloth, for around the same price. Maybe less. Oh well.

thanks for the replies
i sent him all your info
he decided on an imperial black pearl new which will be delivered and set up on thursday.......🤷‍♂️
Which model? The Resolute is made from solid Aspen, at $3200 it doesn't look bad. Is 39x78 a common playing field for a 7' table?

39x78 is most common - Olhausen, Connelly and so forth. But I have seen some brands like Brunswick models that are at 38x76. Diamonds and Valley are listed at 40x80.

That extra one inch might not seem like a lot, but it actually is.

Do you know the saying?
You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink
I tried my best and I appreciate all the advice from all you guys
It’s all I could do

None of the horses I lead ever seem to drink the water, so the reservoir is still high. ♒

New is the way to go. He’ll enjoy what he bought.

If he is just learning, the Imperial will probably be fine. At less than $1750 delivered, it's not that expensive and it has a slate bed. I imagine it comes with fuzzy cloth. For a lot of people, including me, new is much nicer.

If he takes to pool he may want to upgrade in the future, but if the bug bites, he will learn a lot faster if he finds a good pool hall.

(I just looked at some of the fine print and "delivered" means the truck pulls up to your driveway and the driver opens the doors. Then you take the table out of the truck. Other services cost more. I assume it is a three-piece slate. Add $300 for unloading and setup?)

All the horses I’ve ever led to water drank greedily. I had to pull their heads up and walk them out for twenty minutes, before offering another taste.

There was a recent and almost identical thread, buyer bought the exact same table. He posted a follow up, stating he was very happy with it.

I played $6750 delivered about 9 months a go. Still my favorite thing I’ve ever bought in my 52 years. some times I stare at it and am still in disbelief I finaly got one lol
Yeah, I think the used Diamonds listed for 5k don't actually sell-through. I know I would not buy a used one at that price when I can get factory brand new for 1750 more. Now, 3500 range they will move. 4k range setup is the highest I'd go used when 6750 is new setup.

I think a lot sold for that, when new table delivered was 6-18 months out.

It's certainly possible, and I would not bet against it. But I personally would not believe it unless I saw the cash/bank transfer/etc slips with my own eyes. Too many people try to raise prices of things and keep the true sell-thru price secret. And the biggest Diamond used price pumper is their traveling mechanic from our forum.

They were just selling them for $6000 used at the expo I believe. That’s just silly. I wish I would have bought mine at the expo like 10 years a go when a friend did. He got a table with almost new cloth , the diamond light new in a box , a set of super aramith pro’s delivered for $3250 lol.

Btw the gentlemen I bought my diamond from is the one that told me he gets 5k to $5500 if they are used and they always sells quick 🤷🏻‍♂️
